Nine Miles Down sounds pretty great from the limited samples. Looks like yet another overseas CD that has no distro and only available through the band. That's fine, though I'll order. I just would like for bands to have more than one full song available...

fyi...the link for Sancrosanct is the same for Massive Scar Era

Corrected. Mid-era Fates Warning fans should check them out.T'ski wrote:fyi...the link for Sancrosanct is the same for Massive Scar Era

While I know all of those styles aren't exactly board favorites, I'm surprised that some of them didn't generate any discussion at all. Either I'm out of touch or this board just doesn't give a shit about the little guys anymore.
XpressivE, Seven Thorns, Sancrosanct, & Nine Miles Down are all quality prog bands.

Nine Miles Down got my attention, but none of the others really caught on for a variety of reasons (mostly just my tastes).

some cool stuff to check out. I agree with everyone that Nine Miles Down is a favorite. Great singing.
Let me add another sleeper hit into the mix

great moody proggy metal . Excellent vocal melodies.

I just purchased the Nine Miles Down. With shipping and euro conversion it ended up to be 22 bucks. I've only heard the one song so let's see what kind of return on investment I get...

Thanks for posting this Glenn - sure missed some of those.
The biggest surprise for me was Sacrosanct ... that does not sound anything like the thrash band I remember, and I've gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised. There's a certain "AFM Records" style to it (think later day Nocturnal Rites, Bloodhound, Brainstorm, Paradox, ....)
I too like Nine Miles Down a bit - it has a modern day Fates Warning vibe going on. Unfortunately the rest of the album doesn't live up to the high quality of that single.
Massive Scar Era was musically top notch, but the singer killed it for me, sorry.
Good finds Glenn, keep 'em coming.
