Moderators: TROY or maybe DEBBIE, Stevie WOnder, Digital Man

For the review of an album, do you prefer a track-by-track commentary or a summary of the whole album?

I personally find it annoying to see track-by-track running commentary on an album review. It seems like sports reporting, and not at all like how an album gels together in my mind eventually. What do you think?

Simplicity, always. Give me a synopsis, comparisons, impressions, but skip the details. It's like a movie review: I don't want to know specifics, so that I can enjoy it raw the first pass.

I want to get the vibe of the disc, the style, how are the players, the singer and what it sounds like. Track by track is of no interest to me.
