Animate - Infinite Imaginations

Post by Random Axe » Sat Jun 05, 2021 11:52 am

I wasn't expecting this at all, but this is an AOY contender for me.

So far Turbulence and Need have dominated the other releases but this one is just as good. ITs got the same basic formula as those bands with some complex but melodic guitar work and powerhouse vocals and melodies that remind me of Stefen Zell. So far I can only find a purchase option on bandcamp. If it ends up that its digital release only then there is no way I put it at the top this year. I can't put a download as my no. 1 ever no matter how good it is.

Why? That just seems pointlessly exclusionary.

I'm myopic that way, a character flaw.

I suppose as the industry moves that direction I'll have to adjust. However, I've never liked a DL only album as much as this so my mind can definitely be changed in this unique situation. It's kinda like when I was doing reviews for a few different sites. I wouldn't do any reviews of just mp3, I wanted a disc in my hand(promo or cdr was fine) that I could play in the car to further absorb it.

Addendum to previous post:

Ken has this in stock at LE, so go grab one.

This is a great, traditional prog metal album. Overall feel of the album falls between Tomorrow's Eve and Cornerstone.

This is pretty good. Thanks for the tip.
