Amaranthe - Manifest

They continue to be the best pop-metal band in the world. I've heard a bunch of similar bands recently, and Amaranthe's songs are just more addictive than everyone else. Other than "Boom!" having infantile and embarrassing lyrics, this is fantastic crossover stuff.

Nightmare - Aeternam

I loved "Dead Sun", and this record follows suit. It's incredibly aggressive and heavy for power metal, but still retains immediate hooks. That's pretty impressive. I miss Maggy from the last album, but the comparison is the only complain I could have about this one.

Lykantropi - Tales To Be Told

Now here's some vintage rock I can get behind. They use the vintage sound to build a wonderful atmosphere, and then layer the songs with beautiful harmonies. It's all relaxed and beautiful, but still a bit dark. Great stuff.

And I won't bother with the couple really not right for here. There's been good stuff coming out recently. A solid year, overall.
