Tony Mills: "Over My Dead Body" (2015) - if you liked Siam
If you missed this and liked Tony Mills (RIP) work on the Siam albums, this may be for you.
In 2010, while touring with the band TNT, Tony had a heart attack and died in an Oslo airport. After a few minutes he was brought back to life. "Over My Dead Body" is about that harrowing experience, what led to it and how afterwards he began to look at life differently.
An album that fans of Siam should enjoy...a mixture of Siam with more of a melodic/AOR edge. Tony even said in an interview that it started out as a Siam album, but morphed into a solo album when the band couldn't come together.
Excellent mix by Neil Kernon who also plays fretless bass on one track ("My Death" and he's great too...who knew?)

The two SIAM albums were great at the time, but unfortunately they sound a bit dated today. I occasionally revisit them, especially "Prayer", as I love Tony's voice on those, and I always end up only really digging parts of it (I mean, "Queen of Swords" will always stand out as an absolutely incredible tune!) which tells me that they just didn't stand the test of time.venidominefan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:24 pm

I liked Tony in SHY, and I thought some of the stuff he did while in TNT was okay as well, but obviously SIAM was where he shined the brightest. Such a shame he isn't here anymore. The title of album you linked here is quite foreboding and sad in its own right.
I went ahead and gave the album a spin, and while it's more prog than whatever else he was doing at the time and I can see the link back to SIAM, I'm not sure if I like it enough to spend more time with it, considering that the two SIAM albums, as I mentioned above, just didn't hold up over the years for me. There's one really good song here ("We Should Be On By Now") which makes me consider purchasing, but not sure yet. Anyway, thanks for pointing this one out - it's definitely an interesting listen, and one that totally had slipped me by when it came out.

It took me a while to get into Over My Dead Body. I remember “Prayer” was like that for me also. I’ve heard some of the first Siam but don’t actually own that one though it’s on my list.introclaus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 9:40 amThe two SIAM albums were great at the time, but unfortunately they sound a bit dated today. Agreed on “Queen of Swords”...favorite track from Prayer.
Tony also had 2 other albums before he passed away: “Streets of Chance” and “Beyond the Law”. Both are more towards the Shy sound if you missed those.
