Firstbourne - Pick Up the Torch

Post by Random Axe » Thu Apr 09, 2020 6:45 pm

A lot of you may be checked out of this music style, but this is fantastic melodic power. They aren't all speed, all the time. They have several mid paced tunes. Imagine mixing Psyco Drama, Striker and old school Helloween. They avtually do a Yngwie cover. Who the hell does that? These dudes.

This is super refreshing stuff.

Okay, I finally received my package and its as good as I thought it would be based on the samples. I think a better way to describe them is a mix of Psyco Drama, Mag9 and maybe a little Last Tribe. I reminds me of my favorite new discovery in 2018, Burnclear. I bought a couple of extra copies to give away as promotion for the band. Not sure how I'll do that, maybe some kind of contest? I bought them before I actually had a plan.

Anyway, I think this is a great album. The last song on the album is a cover of Yngwie's Rising Force.

Found the video for the Yngwie cover here:

They did a fantastic job with that cover! Also, the video seems to reveal that they opened for Stryper, which might be another plus for some folks here... :D

The guitarist Mike Kerr is the touring axe man for Michael Sweet and Tony Harnell.
