New Demons & Wizards anyone?

Post by Man Of Much Metal » Mon Feb 17, 2020 3:21 pm

Hi All,

Not sure of the fanbase around these parts for Demons & Wizards, but I thought I'd throw forward my review of their long-awaited third album, err, 'III', just in case!

Spoiler alert: not as good as either BG or IE, but decent nonetheless :)

Cheers,

Also clearly the worst of their three albums. It doesn't even really sound like Demons & Wizards, which after fifteen years is the least I was expecting.

Personally, I find it better than 'Touched...' but there's too much filler to make it a great release.

This is one of those supergroups that, to my ears, never really added up to the hype. I think both the first two albums are..... fine? OK? I'll listen to this new one at some point too, but I don't expect anything that's going to blow me away. To be honest, neither BG or IE has really done a lot for me in many years either.... The last IE album was their strongest in some time, but that's not really saying a whole lot....

Looks like my thoughts are in the minority... I think it's a strong effort, and they've successfully captured the atmosphere of their first two albums, while sounding a bit fresh at the same time. It gets better the more I listen to it, too. :D

I don't think it will end up matching their debut (which I've always loved and still listen to regularly), but it will probably surpass their second album. My favorite tracks are 6 and 11. 8)
