Altesia- Paragon Circus

Post by Harvester » Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:12 am

I missed this late December release and I hope others don't make that mistake.

This is excellent Haken/Porcupine Tree/modern Opeth fused prog metal from France.

Took me a few spins to warm up to this but it’s an awesome album even with its clear Opeth and Leprous inspirations here and there.

7 minutes into the album "yeah it's pretty good I guess"... Sax break around 8 minutes into track 2, bought the album.

Despite the Opeth and Leprous leanings, along with others, this is a fantastic release....... there is something about this that I can't put my finger on, but it works.....
When I play it online, I hear so many different influences, but the ones I hear I don't normally go for - so the melodies on this thing are propelling it forward for me.....

This is so bad ass I can't stop listening to it ....... what a great disc to start off the year with. This and Thoughts Factory are in regular rotation for now, and I'm sure for quite some time.

The very reason I will struggle with this record!! I generally dislike brass in metal, with only a very few exceptions. But I'll give this a try nonetheless given the glowing references...
