Geoff Tate performing Empire and RFO.. worth seeing?
As title suggests he is coming to my area to perform Empire and RFO in their entirety. I've never seen him or Queensryche. Anyone want to comment?
So -that's- where the humidifier went.

I would have preferred this than his acoustic tour he have done a couple of years ago, which I saw in my town.
I don't see any Canadian date for this tour.

It's easy to say after, but imagine this Empire/RFO tour in 1997 with the original lineup. Would have been awesome! Now, the problem, it's 23 years too late... But better late than never we say...

I'm not a big fan of his anymore ..... but there is still no denying his greatness, especially at this stage of the game...... that acoustic show he did a couple of years back was incredible. I wish he had released that thing on DVD ......
Me ? I would go see that show in a heartbeat, especially given the discs he is playing ....... it's easy to wish that the original lineup was doing this, but we can dream....if you haven't seen QR ever, I say go see it - at least you're getting the original voice that did it. I don't care for his current band, but they can pull off the music.....
Gaetan - I was one of the lucky ones who say QR back in 1992 play on the Empire tour, with the entire Operation: Mindcrime disc thrown into them middle of the show.....one of the best shows I've ever seen, and how Tate pulled that particular show off night after night is one of those " we will never know " things.....absolutely amazing.

Well, I saw him live with Avantasia last year and he was in real fine vocal form, so I'd say yes.

I have lost almost all interest in Tate over the last 20+ years, but as soon as I saw this show was hitting Columbus I bought tickets. His voice is not (and hasn't been) the issue; it's his songwriting that has fallen apart. I did see him a few years ago at a local festival, and he sounded excellent. Sure, he can't hit the high notes like he used to, but in general he did a good job compensating and working around that, rather than trying and failing to reach the highs.
Yes, that Empire tour was fantastic, as was the Promised Land a few years later.

I just bought a ticket a few minutes ago for the local stop on this tour, so hopefully this thread's positive appraisals pan out.

Amazingly his voice is still in shape. It is butter. So would not miss this.
It is crazy how he still got that range at that age, most similar vocalists lose the highs as they age.

Video from last night's tour kickoff in Europe. I'm very stoked to see this next month now..... Seeing some stuff off Rage that I've never seen live before! "Gonna Get Close to You" sounds amazing!
