Interesting how that one tune is dividing fans - I totally love it and think it’s one of the best on the album but I hear others complain about it.
There is something repeating over and over again in the song...
Sure, there’s also a lot of repetition of a single riff in “into the Everflow” by Psychotic Waltz, and still it’s one of the absolute best prog metal songs ever written
Just because something is repeated doesn’t make it bad - heck one of the most underrated prog albums ever (Chrome Shift “Ripples in Time”) has a song where only one word is used over and over.
Obviously we all listen for different things, but repetition of a riff was never something that bored me. It’s all about HOW it’s used, and to me this is one of the best songs on the Conception album.

I agree. I do like the song "Into The Everflow" by Psychotic Waltz and the song "Sorry" by Chrome Shift. I like also, for example, the repeating riff in "Disconnected Part 2" by Fates Warning. I think the purpose was to create a special mood at the end of the album "Disconnected" and it works.
So in the case of "Of Raven And Pigs" by Conception, maybe the problem is that the repeating riff doesn't click with me.

Anyone else preorder the vinyl? If so, has anyone gotten it yet? I'm still waiting for my copy.

This really is a great disc ..... aside from the Pigs song, the rest is outstanding

Certainly not my favorite tune on here, but it has a sort of Ark vibe to it musically. The placement as the first song is what I find most odd, as it makes for a very unusual start to the disc before settling in.

No I haven't, I don't think that it's even shipped yet.

Finally the vinyl arrived and guess what?
I open it, the record is scuffed and so warped that it is unplayable.
Bitterly disappointed to say the least.

Im so happy I didn’t order it from the band this time around. It seems like they really are very unprofessional (perhaps it’s because they are trying to handle all their affairs on their own) in the way this whole fund-me campaign was run. First time around they screwed it up so I learned my lesson. Sorry you’re dealing with this crap now.

Yeah I won't be making the same mistake again with Conception.

I like the album and it's on repeat rotation because it's an easy listen. Very good comeback album with previous EP but it won't make it to my No.1 album of 2020. Psychotic Waltz's awesome TSV most probably will, unless Zero Hour's turns out to be a monster. Great comebacks from all my faves.
