I'm back...again!

Post by Man Of Much Metal » Mon Nov 11, 2019 5:10 am

Good morning Everyone,

I hope you are all in the rudest of health & fighting fit?!

I am well aware of the fact that I do this quite a lot, but I am back! This time, I have returned from one of the darkest and most difficult passages of my life, a passage that caused me to cease writing about music for over 8 months. I'm not a closed book & I hate being vague, so to sum it all up, my partner of 9 years ended our relationship & I suddenly needed to put my little girls first and be the best Daddy I could be. That meant I had to stop writing for a bit...I also lost my desire for writing too...

But, thanks to music, friends, family and ProgPower Europe, I have rediscovered my mojo & the Man of Much Metal has arisen once more!

I'm desperately trying to catch up on the best that 2019 has had to offer and so far have reviewed Evergrey, Vanden Plas, Ray Alder, Voyager, Our Destiny, Leprous, Borknagar, Rendezvous Point and many more...if you're interested, they can all be found at https://manofmuchmetal.com/

But more importantly, I just want to reconnect with people that I have not spoken with for some time & also hear about any bands/artists that I may have missed during my extended hiatus. And this board is key to that!

So, in a nutshell, I'm back, I'm fired up & I'm ready to go!

Cheers everyone,

Matt

Welcome back Matt. You’ve been missed! I’ve read up on all your reviews the last few weeks and enjoyed seeing you made it back to music. When I went through my divorce the music was actually one of the things that kept me somewhat level-headed, so while I didn’t turn away from it, I totally understand where you’re coming from with priorities shifting in a crisis.

Thank you Claus! That's very kind of you & thanks for the support as always :)

I wasn't too bothered about the break-up itself, it was the effect on my kids that consumed all my time and energy. But they are fine, so all is well & I now feel ready to get back into music. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

You’ve already reviewed the two best albums of 2019 so .... you’re on the right track :)

Welcome back! I'm sorry for what you had to go through, and it's great to hear you rose to the occasion and did what you had to do.

Devin Townsend's Empath is likely album of the year for me. If you haven't heard it, you owe it to yourself. I daresay it'll help pick you up emotionally also.

Thanks so much everyone for all the kindness - I really REALLY must get myself over to PPUSA one of these years before it's too late!

Dude, you certainly have hit the ground running here..... Glad to see you back. The board hasn't seen this much activity in AGES. :)
