Cats in Space - Daytrip to Narnia

Post by introclaus » Sat Mar 30, 2019 10:56 am

What's y'alls thoughts on this one?

I'm loving the heck out of it - it's like the best parts of Queen, Uriah Heep, Kiss, Supertramp, Meat Loaf, Elton John, Sweet, ELO, Deep Purple ... it's classic hard rock / rock with lots of pomp, and fronted by Paul Manzi (ARENA) who sings freakin' amazing here. This one should appeal to not only fans of the aforementioned bands (which makes up 50% of the worlds population haha), but also those who jumped on the "Night Flight Orchestra" train lately ...

I've got their previous two releases. Kind of a hit/miss thing for me but they do craft some catchy stuff. Of course I'll get this as well

I checked out their stuff. Some really cool songs, some not so much. But an interesting band for sure.
I prefer The Night Flight Orchestra in that retro style...

I like both bands but for different things :) it’s clear that there’s an overlap between them stylewise (retro classic rock with a happy edge) but for TNFO I love their ABBA’esque melodic way to write songs, and for CiS it’s their Queen-pomp I love.

Funny thing is that my son likes both bands as well - his favorite song on the new Cats in Space is “She Talks Too Much” which obviously is hilarious to an 8 year old :)
