Shattered Skies - Muted Neon

Post by Mardoch » Mon Oct 01, 2018 9:11 am

New Shattered Skies coming out next month! The new singer still isn't the old one, but this guy is still quite good all the same. Shut-in is a great track so I'm pretty excited to see what the whole album's gonna have for us.

Super excited for this!

Though, I gotta say it's a shame that album cover has all those sick colors and the shirt is just black and white :P

I'm still considering a shirt as I do love these folks. I'm not sure I could wear something as loud as this would be if it matched the color scheme of the album art, though. I think I would give myself a headache every time I looked down, lol.

I think I'm coming around on 8-string guitars as long as they're used in the context of a melodic song and not used for straight-up chunking. You Will Know My Name is a perfect example of where they don't run roughshod over the song.

I've definitely enjoyed the first couple of released tracks. Here's hoping the rest holds up.

Well this was unexpected... they got... better? Looking forward to spending more time with this but man, initial impression is that this is a huge leap forward.

I still like the previous singer more, but the new guy is also growing on me rapidly. This album's a banger, and the writing feels more consistent than the last. Also more varied. I'm loving it.

Just checking these guys out, from the PP XXI lineup...... Quickly becoming a fan. Really enjoy how melodic this is, as I was initially scared off by the comments around the djent guitar work..... The vocals and keys both do a fantastic job of balancing out the guitars, in all the right ways. Instantly memorable hooks through several tunes already. My only old-school frustration: looks like it's virtually digital only. Newest CD is still available, but the others are all digital only.

Nah, CDs are more convenient. Seriously. I couldn't fit more than a small fraction of my CD collection as FLAC rips on any portable device currently made, so I'd have to periodically delete and reload different parts of the collection. And do I want to be flipping through a bunch of albums on an mp3 player while I'm driving, or do I want to grab a CD? Grab a CD.

I definitely have a different perspective than you guys. I have at least 100 albums with me at all times on my phone. Blue tooth to my car stereo, headphones, etc., doesn’t get any more convenient than that imo.

Cool to see SS on the PPUSA bill next year!
