The underappreciated (Black Symphony)

Postby Cheiron » Thu Sep 20, 2018 10:10 am

When it comes to prog/power metal, Black Symphony ranks as one of the most underappreciated.

I hope a little bit each year that I see them on the ProgPower video :)

So what bands do you feel are way underappreciated by the genre fans?

Agreed - Black Symphony is underrated - you should post about them on the “forgotten heroes” thread :)

Tears of Blood was a great album. Haven't dug that out in a while. Might be time for a revisit.

***Same here - that was an awesome, under the radar disc that not many people ever heard ........ I need to dig that out soon. Undiscovered gem, although if I remember right, the production was off a bit ........but I didn't care at the time .......

I don't think the production was off, just a harsh mastering. But most modern (post-'92) metal is like that.

I love the debut - such incredible songwriting and performances.

“Tears of Blood” had its moments but it never clicked for me in same way as debut. Probably due to the line up changes (vocalist, drummer).

Never cared enough to listen to the last two albums as that was yet another compete line up change.

I liked the debut album but not enough over the long run to hold onto it. I have a CD-R of it somewhere but haven't listened to it in years. One of those albums that had lots of good hooks but not too much staying power - or at least, so I thought some years ago.
