Have we already talked about the neo-prog band Anubis from Australia?

I'm currently playing the album "A Tower Of Silence" (2011)...
It sounds really good... not sure how to describe this... This is not exactly classic neo-prog...

I don't believe we have ever brought up Anubis -- there are actually 2 Anubis bands ... the one you speak of out of Australia, and another metal band that I can't remember the origin.

The Neo-Prog Anubis, is as you said .... a Pink Floyd vibe, although I don't ever remember thinking Haken when I listened to them...... I think I remember not caring for the singer, but I could be wrong. I'll have to revisit this at some point .......

Everyone seems to confuse this band with the Danish Anubis Gate who sound totally different!

A Tower of Silence is among PA's highest ranked neo-prog albums ever. I really enjoyed that disc and their more recent one The Second Hand is also fantastic. You may know the guitarist as Douglas Skene of Hemina who's a close friend of mine. Their performance at Night of the Prog Festival last weekend was electrifyingly good and one of the five best sets of the weekend easily.

Hemina is amazing. I keep hoping they get a festival slot.

Larry, If you heard Anubis and it was not the album "A Tower Of Silence", you should try this album. I'm playing this again tonight and it's truly excellent! You may simply start with the opening 17 min track "The Passing Bell (Part I - VI)". The track on this album that reminds me Haken "Aquarius" album is "The Holy Innocent".
Maybe not the greatest singer of all time but I think he is very good. To me he is not at all annoying to the music like you say.

I added the band to my website in the neo-prog section.
To me, "A Tower Of Silence" is truly their best album. It's like Sylvan's "Posthumous Silence".
"The Second Hand" comes second. I don't care much about the other 2 studio albums (1st and 3rd).
