Some cool new albums

Postby The Surfing Alien » Sat Jun 30, 2018 8:55 pm

Haven't seen these mentioned here, so thought I'd post.

Great fem vox prog metal. Great songs and vocals( a little shocking for an Eastern Euro band).

Another great prog rocky fem vox band. Absolutely fantastic live.

https://hago.bandcamp.com
Groovy jazzy rock fusion metal

New Tremonti is super good. Modern rock done right. Tremonti's voice is hugely improved and songs are very catchy.

Red Sun Rising. Another pleasant new modern rock discovery. SInger is super smooth .

Wow, best Pink Cream 69 album yet? btw, bassist sounds great as new Gus G band singer !

Dead Sara. A lot of local rocker friends were gaga over these guys which I didn't quite get until I saw them rip it up live. This is probably their poppiest but catchiest release.

Incura. Someone in the Facebook group mentioned this band. Super theatrical latter day Savatage style rockers. Really excellent.

Mask of Bees Another theatrical rocker group , plus saxophone. works surprisingly well.

https://youtu.be/5Zzo35bqB6o
Laura Meade . One of singers in IZZ, a pleasant US prog rock band. I always thought it'd be cool if she was the main singer. Will try to attend the tour for this.

https://youtu.be/6w-KLVNFDGs
HYVMINE . Prog jazz fusion shredder Al Joseph can sing too?? Sounds good!

This is not new but another guitarist that took some singing lessons and turned out well .

I tried to light a fire for Hago earlier this year, but it never caught on.

You made several here go out and buy it ... including me ... I like it a lot but it’s not very metal. And the two songs with vocals kind of suck (which coming from me sounds like a bad joke as I always complain about you spending too much time listening to instrumental music).

I loved their first album. It was theatrical, cheesy as all hell, and one of the most ludicrously catchy records of that year. That said, I thought this second one was a flaming pile of trash, by comparison. It doesn't have any of the spark, nor the songs. And the fact it got surprise released on Bandcamp, when I remember hearing about them signing a record deal, spoke volumes to me that someone else though it wasn't good enough either.

Based on your comments I decided to check out both albums ... I’m with you ... debut album is killer. Sounds like ACT mixed with Muse mixed with Queen mixed with Savatage mixed with My Chemical Romance mixed with Coheed & Cambria. I’m buying this!

The second album sounds like they decided too become a metal band, and not a very good one at that. There are still occasional hints at the pomp and symphonic parts but it’s not nearly as well done as on the debut and the melodies are forgettable at best.
