Conception back with classic line-up!

Postby EnchantED » Thu Apr 05, 2018 8:24 am

From Scream magazine:
We have reason to believe that Norwegian metal-band CONCEPTION is working on a comeback with the classic line-up, based on video/audio and photos sent us by an (want to be) anonymous source who is believed to be and eagle eyed fan who spotted the band milling around the venue in Gjøvik and couldn’t resist the temptation to get closed once he heard music coming from inside.
The video/audio clearly indicates the band rehearsing, classic CONCEPTION with Roy on vocals. The photos also shows Ingar, Tore and believed to be Roy. Not the best quality but proof enough for us. This is not confirmed rumours, but believed to be true. We have tried to get comments from all band members, but so far they have not replied to any of our mails or phone calls.
Anyone else out there that has seen or heard anything that might corroborate the story?

So my first thoughts on all this... the timing in all this is quite suspect. Kamelot's new album comes out itomorrow. This surfaces at the same time? And on the heels of Roy's contemporary Christian tune that just gained a bit of momentum this week? Plus, the biggest thing that bugs me....Roy is a devout Christian. Ingar (bassist and really nice guy) is a devout Satanist. Between all this, I feel like a member of the Lone Gunmen and I smell bullshit.

I'd love to be wrong.

While it does sound incredible, count me in the " I'll believe it when I see it (or hear it) " group ...... agreeing with Glenn, the timing is weird, unless that's the reason.....but that doesn't make sense either. The waiting game begins ...... but I'm staying up for air, not holding my breath.......

I am all in favor of ANYTHING that puts Tore Ostby back into action.... Be it Ark, be it Conception, be it a new project..... Khan would be a bonus, of course, but Tore is what I miss.

Agreed that this all seems VERY dubious, but how great would it be if true????

All signs point towards it being true. There is a video/audio recording (low quality) on Facebook and pictures from Roy, Tore and Ingar together leaving the practicing room. Look and judge for yourself here: https://www.facebook.com/screammag/
I'm excited

I haven't been to too many PPUSAs, but those that I have been to have had some *great* performances. Ark was one of those, and I don't think there's anyone that wasn't blown away by Tore. Conception or no, the guy should be doing *something* - he's simply too good to be inactive. Man, now I want to listen to Flow...

I mean at least they have the "believing that God exists" thing in common, right?

I don't see any reasons why a Christian and a Satanist can't make music together and be friends. If they are the kind of people that respect everyone whether their beliefs are the same or not it could work. They can agree to disagree on their beliefs, but focus on what they have in common instead. Maybe avoid their religion in the music they write and write about other things instead. If they are "my beliefs are right so everyone else much be wrong" types and try to push their beliefs on everyone then it won't work.

I'm cautiously optimistic this could be true.

As others, I want to hear Tore doing something again more than anything. Khan would be a bonus. I hope this happens, but I’m just not buying it.

Isn't Khan recording a solo album right now? Maybe that's what this is all about.

A Conception reunion would be cool, and I don't see differing theologies as a deal-breaker.

I must say, as a casual fan of the band, I had no idea there was a Pledge campaign going on. very little buzz going on with this reunion.

This should be mind-blowing.

Watching Tore with Ark at PPUSA all those years back is still one of my fondest musical memories. Yes, this is my annual Ark lament post.

Agreed. I've long lamented Tore's departure from the business, given that he's one of the few players in the genre that can shred with actual feeling to his playing. I'm stoked that Conception is back also because I had to miss their ProgPower performance. I supported the pledge drive and am looking forward to the actual EP release. The cover art that they've shared seems to be just for the 3-song single that should be preceding something longer. Creepy, but still somewhat in line with a couple of the previous album covers.

Regardless, looking forward to it.

The single...from what I understand, the single is actually the 3 songs and the full EP is still forthcoming. I could be wrong though.

Yup, it’s the single (a short intro and two real songs). It’s also available on iTunes for those who didn’t use the pledge campaign.

Sounds great - definitely more in the “Flow” vein than “Parallel Minds”/“In Your Multitude” style. This is laid back prog, no power metal.

Yes 'Grand Again' has a Flow vibe to it, but sounds very modern.
Both sounds sound just like you'd expect it to sound exactly like Conception should and no one else.
