Lords Of Black rules. Can't wait for the new album. But yes, while solid, they have better songs than this new one.

This song did absolutely nothing for me ........ but I'll certainly wait for the disc to judge completely ....... I was expecting a power house song to hit us first, not the "single" or one of their lesser songs ....... Ronnie still sounds as awesome as ever though ........

+1
I mean it's ok, but a real simplistic generic song imo. Hope there will be much better on the album.

Call me stubborn, but this new track didn't do much more for me than the first one ......yes it's better, but it's not making me hanker for the rest of this disc. They have to up the ante from II, and these two songs are not doing that ....... they need to raise the bar a bit more before I get excited. Ronnie, of course, sounds godly......

LOB is a blind buy for me, so I've already pre-ordered this. I'm not bothering to listen to the samples, I'll just wait for the whole disc.

One pass thru the new disc - and I have to say that initially, this is not as good as LoB / II. As I'm playing the first half of the disc, that is what I thought first and foremost, that II opens up with kick ass music and stays that way thru the disc..... this new ones, opens up fairly weak, and I believe the video sampler songs are on this half.....just as I'm about to sigh with frustration, the 2nd half of the disc starts, and wow does it kick in !!!!! Ronnie, of course, sounds great throughout - it's the music that doesn't initially grab. Suddenly, the music starts to get dramatic / epic and begins to pull you in slowly but surely...... it's hard not to say that this is a winner / monster when you're done - but as soon as you start the disc over, you get that feeling that something just didn't click for the first few songs, and then all of sudden it opens up and BAM !!!!

It's going to be winner for sure - it's quality LoB for sure.......whether or not it's going to be better than II is up to the listener...... so far, for me, it is not but I am enjoying this thoroughly. Time will tell.

So this is a more "commercial" version of LoB ....... while I'm enjoying it, I'm having a hard time putting up the metal horns and headbanging to it ...... the disc doesn't get to the "metal" part of LoB until the awesome Track 8 / KIng's Reborn .....This 8:00 track could have been the next "Ghost of You" if they played their cards right, but it turns out to be one of the better metal songs on the disc, reminding me so much of DIO. Up until Track 8, the only other song that sticks out in my mind as being heavy, is Track 4 / When a Hero Takes a Fall ......then it's back to that hard rock / anthem chorus sound again for most of the remainder.

I guess in the end, how you see Lords of Black stylistically will determine whether or not you love this one ...... if you like the hard rock side of them, you should love this one.... if you love the metal side, I'd say go back to LoB II for the kick. While I'm enjoying it, I find myself pining for the epic journey that II was..... this is more "song" and "chorus" oriented, with those straight ahead, simple hard rock beats dominating most of the disc..... no speed to be found here, which should please those who tire of that style -

This is a really good disc because it's LoB ..... but to me, II is much better than this ...... while the good songs really shine here, the filler doesn't.... and there is much of that to be found here....... it makes me feel torn between which style of LoB I want to hear, and I don't like that they give me that choice........

Edit - the last song, All I have Left is the closest thing to Ghost of You ......but it just doesn't have that epic feel to it......at 8:32 they could do a lot with it, but the choruses just keep repeating at the end of the song. Much more tedious overall ........

Only spun it once, but I really liked what I heard. Definitely hear what you mean about more "hard rock" than "metal", which is 100% cool with me.

Also worth calling out: the deluxe version is a must-own. The bonus disc has six extra tracks, including four cover tunes, plus I believe a bonus song on the actual album. Well worth it.

Just chiming in to say - They don’t write enough songs like Ghost of You.

***I only got the standard version because I had the Japanese version of II that had Innuendo on it ....... I didn't care about the other cover songs on the new disc to spend the whopping $3 on .....hehehehehe ...... in hind sight, I should have ........... But that's ok ......

I prefer the heavier stuff they do - not the hard rock vibe they give off on lots of these new tunes.......and Todd I agree 1000% -- they don't write enough Ghost of You songs...... that's where Ronnie is at his best I feel .........

Haven't heard the new one yet, but...just got their self-titled release from 2014...just 5 songs in and so far it crushes "II".

Larry, if you love Ronnie's voice, he has another album that will be coming out in July with a group called Destinia. Sounds far more melodic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vsrTbstkJQ

****I did see that song - and yes, it sounded awesome ..... but I also played some of the rest of that disc, and it seems that the Japanese guitar hero who fronts that band is into that melodic 80s metal style..... which I am not ........ Seems to me that Ronnie is also comfortable in that 70s / 80s style of music considering the discs he has played on..... only The Ferrymen, and LoB seem to be more metal than any of the other bands he has sung for ........ But I guess when you have a voice like DIO, that's where your voice style follows........

Dang, Ronnie is making good right now! Good for him...... Hope he doesn't get spread too thin though.

I hadn't heard about this, but thanks for the call-out as this is right up my alley.

This makes three albums this year, plus the Rainbow single. I'm getting a bit tired of the guy, and could use a break for a little while.

You'd be already tired with just one album every 2 years cause you don't really enjoy his vocals to start with so...

Long live melodic 80s metal style!! This Destinia album is very good! Romero sounds very good of course. And with a rhythm section comprised of Marco Mendoza and Tommy Aldridge, you gotta expect a sound like this too!

I like him fine. All I've ever said is that I don't hear him as this generational talent the way other people do. He's a shadow compared to Jorn, who is the rightful heir to that title.

I'd be tired of anyone releasing that many albums so close together. There needs to be some breathing room to avoid over-saturation.
