Same. One of the bigger musical surprises of the recent past. I like what they've released so far. Can't wait...
I'll be the judge of what's good and what isn't, thank you...

Re: new Kino!
Why is it I don't like John Mitchell in anything but Arena ? And the guy is one of my favorite guitarists ...... outside of Arena, nothing he does clicks with me ......

I'm going with 'you're dead inside'.

Re: new Kino!
I've only spun it once (and at work), but I liked what I heard. A few observations:
- This is not Kino 1.5 - you're not gonna get that 300 years after the first disc. It's not as 'poppy' for lack of a better word.
- It's also not Lonely Robot pt. 3, so this is probably more of a group effort than it might seem, given Mitchell's dominant role(s).
- I have an issue with singers who have *really* distinct voices. A little goes a long way. Mitchell falls into this category.
- Mitchell's guitar playing here is excellent, and there's a lot of it.
- Lots of really interesting keys, too.
- Production is ace, although I could use a little more of Mr. Trewavas in the mix.
Interesting tidbit I just read on Craig Blundell's FB page (he's the drummer, btw - Frost, Steven Wilson, Lonely Robot, etc.): He showed up at the studio around 8:30 AM and they had drum tracks for the entire disc by 3:30. Yikes. That's how good these guys are.

I reckon I must be Larry...but I can live with that. I just didn't think it was Mitchell's best work and it did feel hurried. Word on the street is that the label blocked him from releasing a third Lonely Robot album & Kino was the compromise. Not sure if it's true, but it might explain the lack of a spark.
