Warrel Dane / Sanctuary & Nevermore... R.I.P.

Postby LarryD » Wed Dec 13, 2017 9:36 am

Can't find any info on this - but apparently Warrel Dane has died in Sao Paulo, Brazil ........... from Wikipedia:

Warrel Dane ( March 7, 1969 - December 13, 2017)[2] was the lead singer of the American power metal band Sanctuary. He is also known as the former lead singer of currently inactive progressive metal band Nevermore. He is a natural baritone,[3] though he was known for his high-pitched vocals with Serpent's Knight and on the first two Sanctuary albums. Later in his career, Dane became more notable for his distinctively deep, dramatic voice.

Warrel died in São Paulo in december of 2017.

***Glenn tweeted on the PP Board of Warrel's death, and there are R.I.P.'s on Warrel's Twitter page ........

Lots of great music from one of the best ever....... and so glad I finally got to see Sanctuary play live. Thank you Warrel - R.I.P.

Not terribly surprising, but very sad news nonetheless. :(

Mind officially blown. Only 48 years old, and dead of a heart attack. I saw Nevermore two or three times back in the day, and he was just as exceptional live as in the studio.

Last night, I played Ayreon - Actual Fantasy. Initially, my decision to listen to this album was not related to Warrel...
But then came the last song of the album called "Forevermore"... I immediately thought about this sad news about Warrel...
I only have the album "Dreaming Neon Black" from Nevermore. Never really clicked with me. Maybe I didn't start with the right Nevermore album...
I don't know the band Sanctuary but I have listen to the youtube link provided by Chris...
R.I.P. dear Warrel.

Some are saying he wasn't really 48. The 1st Sanctuary album was... 1988 or thereabouts? He probably wasn't 18 or 19 then. Some say he was actually in his early 50s. Still young for something like this. They say alcohol was a problem, and I'm sure he's experimented with things other than alcohol, judging by some of Nevermore's lyrical themes.
