New melodic power metal band alert: Cyrha - Letters to myself

Postby Stevie WOnder » Mon Oct 30, 2017 10:02 am

This is the ex Amaranthe guy's new band (don't know the name, not a fan). It's filled with excellent mélodies, some pop here and there and the best part is that amazing singer. One of the best I've heard in a long while. It's been stuck in my player for the last 2 weeks. Definitely making the top 5 this year.

**Edit**

Here's our own Man of Much Metal review of the disc, seems like there are a few guys from In Flames too and Luca Turilli's drummer. His review is spot on except that I don't get the feeling it needed more to end the disc. It's excellent from beginning to end IMO.

Wondering who directed you towards this band...

Very good stuff for sure. Not as crazy about it as you, but it's quality stuff.

Anyone enjoying this excellent singer, Jake E., check out this album from his previous band, Dignity-Project Destiny. Really good hard rocking melodic metal stuff with great vox and melodies and some killer choruses.

I dunno, might be you!!

I need to give a spin to the Project Destiny. Just played one song so I can't tell but it sounded more like traditional power. Not bad though and that guy can really sing!

I really like the Cyhra album quite a bit. Normally this would be a bit too mellow for me, and the last couple of songs don't do a lot for me, but the rest of the album melodies get caught in my head just about every day these days.

As far as Jake E's past work goes I actually prefer the 3 Dreamland albums he sings on to the Dignity album. Not to say i don't like the Dignity album, just prefer the Dreamland stuff. It is less "happy" sounding.

Damn...Didn't even remember he was the singer for Dreamland.. Need to revisit these albums soon. Weren't they very similar to Hammerfall in style? That's what I think they reminded me back then....
