Very excited for this album, and your review pretty much nailed my expectations for it. Leprous is one of my favorite bands going today, but I do find myself a little disappointed that they have settled into a somewhat predictable groove, which sounds like it will continue on this album. Both Coal and Congregation were "safe" albums in that the songs started following a bit of a signature format, and became a little predictable. (That being said, though, both albums are GREAT albums, and even though "predictable" the songs are incredibly STRONG.)

The Leprous I initially fell in love with was the Leprous of "Bilateral" which is one of the most eclectic, bizarre, hungry, aggressive and DIVERSE prog metal albums I've ever heard. It was truly a "goosebumps" album when I first heard it, which is a very rare event anymore. I would love to see that sense of raw exploration return to the band, but I also understand it is all but impossible to recapture that magic ever again, as musicians naturally mature just like most other people on the planet.

As always, great review!!!

What, they've released three songs from this already? I dunno - I think Leprous is actually interesting to listen to again for the first time in a few albums.
I'll be the judge of what's good and what isn't, thank you... ;)
