Orden Ogan - Gunman

Postby gazinwales » Thu Jul 06, 2017 3:38 am

I did a search and couldn't find an existing thread for OO.
German power metal band, Gunman is their fifth album out this week in Europe.
With a loose concept about the Wild West.
Three video's are from the above mentioned album.

They're one of the best power metal bands out there, and one that does something interesting with the format. I've actually known about them since before "Vale" came out, and they've never disappointed me yet. Even though no one else does, I consider "Easton Hope" to be one of the modern power metal classics.

The new record is awesome too. It's their best since then. It's grandiose, heavy, and filled with great melodies. I definitely say it's one of the best metal albums of the year.

I agree. also one of my favorite power metal bands - the choruses are epic, and they have not just an original spin on power metal, but also a lot of variety and tempo changes in their songs. Vale is still my favorite but every disc they release always has some great songs.

glad to see them discussed here.

On a similar note - I have revisited Blind Guardian - and I forgot how much I enjoy them, but also discovered that the cd a Twist in the Myth is way better than I remember, and that Beyond the Red Door - not so good.

I thought I was the only one who thought that. "A Twist In The Myth" isn't amazing, but it's better than "Beyond The Red Door", definitely. That was a colossal disappointment, even for someone who isn't that much of a Blind Guardian fan.

Is the album really double-bass speedy ? Or more mid-paced?

It's got a mix. It's not overwhelmingly fast. I usually don't like power metal that's nothing but speed, and this didn't bother me.

I rather like this record, having never been very aware of this band in the past. Here's my review if anyone is interested in such things...
