2017 - I know it's early, but.....

Postby Sir Exar Kun » Wed Dec 21, 2016 1:07 pm

....new release schedule is looking depressingly quiet. Interested in the new PoS, and will probably sample Firewind and Xandria, but nothing else of note on here. What else is due in 2017, as it looks like a very S-L-O-W start.

I'm going to guess Anathema as they have been playing a new song live...

Those lists fill up as the year go by. Also, the great new bands don't appear on those.

I'm also hoping for a new Anathema and I'm sure a few great surprises.

Very true, but coming off a year in which it seemed like every single great band put out a new album, it's going to naturally be tough to follow that up.

It's not a new studio release, but I'm looking forward to the new IQ Blu-ray (concert) to be released in January...

Don't forget new THRESHOLD!

THRESHOLD ALBUM TITLE AND TOUR DATES
21.12.2016

Threshold are currently recording their 11th album at Thin Ice Studios in England, a new concept album that will be called LEGENDS OF THE SHIRES. It's being produced by Karl Groom and Richard West and is scheduled to be released in 2017. More information will be revealed soon.

The band has also announced dates for the LEGENDS OF THE SHIRES TOUR 2017 where you'll be able to fully experience songs from the new album on stage.

Richard West comments: "It's great to be announcing these tour dates so soon, we can't wait to get on the road and perform for you. Our new album is coming together perfectly, we've got a lot of strong material so it might be our longest one yet."
The long road is a rainbow and the pot of gold lies there. So slip the chain and I'm off again ---
You'll find me everywhere. I'm a Rover.

The new Persefone also ought to be great. I know new Anubis Gate and Vanishing Point are on their way for early 2017.

On Devo island...

Almost certainly:
Vangough is recording.
Karnivool is recording.
Big Wreck already has a single out.
Envinity is mixing.
Klone has an acoustic EP coming in February.
Tyranny of Hours is recording.
Playgrounded has an album in the can, but not news on a release.

Maybe:
Mytra is recording an EP I believe.
Haji's Kitchen is recording, I think (and they got Daniel Tompkins back).
In the Silence is recording, I believe.
Tetrafusion is recording, I believe.
Melodramus is recording, I believe.
Destiny Potato is active, but not sure if it's just writing or actually recording.

Outside shot:
Psychotic Waltz has been working for what seems like forever.
Slug Comparison hopefully. Doug Harrison has apparently been suffering tendonitis in his wrists, which held a new album up.
Jolly hopefully.
Dead Air Radio maybe?
Indukti hinted at something.

Subsignal are recording and writing for a 2017 release. Markus has seemingly revealed the album title to be "La Muerta."

Eidos was my AOTY 2015. If Kingcrow can top that then they will have made a classic for the ages.

Few bands can top a monster trilogy that Kingcrow have already released....... if anyone can do four in a row, KC can............. the bar has been set with Eidos, but this band seems very confident in what they do, and we all know what comes out of it ..........

It's not even March and I'm already have a pretty damned good year.

Absent Distance - From Deep Red to Infinite Black (pretty good)
Ghost Iris - Blind World (very good)
Kadinja - Ascendancy (excellent)
Need - Hegaiamas: A Song for Freedom (very good)
Shattered Skies - Auxilium // Vol I (very good)
The Ralph - Enter Escape (excellent)
Valis Ablaze - Insularity (very good)

And Nociceptor's new one finally comes out tomorrow, which I can only imagine will be brutish and fantastic.

7/8 djent, lol. But hey, these folks churn content and I am nothing if not a consumer of metal content.

Ok, so I'm the only one that's heard the Ayreon clips, then? Really? No biggie, just might be Arjen's best...

Kingcrow is on the list. Wait for it...Blaze Bailey (go ahead, throw things at will). Felix Martin has a new one on the way. I know there's more goodness on the way, and it is early AF in the year.

Already released in 2017:

Odd Logic-Effigy
Horisont- About Time
Witherfall- Nocturnes & Requiems
Elbow- Little Fictions
The Offering- S/T
Mystery Weekend- S/T

I'm terrible about keeping up with forthcoming albums, but after the new Need album I only have two gigantic 2017 releases I'm craving.

Iris Divine

Ascendia

There will be other awesome albums for sure but those two are personal for me and by far my most anticipated.
