The band is called Xerxes from Switzerland.

Albums:

Beyond My Imagination (1993)
Falling Leaves (1997)

Falling Leaves is actually a promo CD for I guess a future official album that never saw the light of the day.

Probably some people here already know them. Me, it's the first time I hear of them.

If you want to know quickly if this band appeals to you, I recommend listening to the 16 min song "Sam Hain" from Falling Leaves. The best is of course listening to both albums completely.

I still have Beyond My Imagination in my collection. They had some buzz going on way back, mid to late 90s. I found them via the original PM board. I haven't listened to that disc in ages. I guess I'll have to give it a spin now!

Falling Leaves is excellent ..... I'm not sure where you got this Gaeten, it's been extinct for years. I can't even remember where I got this from when it was actually released back in the day......

I remember the bass player emailed me one day after reading a post I made about the disc, and he thanked me because he didn't realize that anyone outside of his country would have this disc ..... really cool !!!!!

It's not prog metal - more of a prog rock style, but it's well done and worth being in a collection. It's one of those "gems" from yesteryear we always talk about .......

Sometimes it's difficult the trace the line between prog rock and prog metal... The band is listed on https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Xerxes/833 So I guess it's not that far to prog metal if it's not prog metal...
