Re: What are you listening to right now?

Just got in my copy of the new Scar Symmetry. It's very good and I will likely be sticking with it for a few days.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

The Safety Fire - Mouth of Swords. Great album. Still sad the band ended. I know Glass Tiger exists, but Elliot Coleman is the worst vocalist in metal and they hired him, so that's off the board. Glass Tiger? Lol ... you meant Good Tiger. And you're wrong about Elliot :) I'm getting old and my memo...

Re: Voyager at Eurovision

First time I've ever watched Eurovision was for Voyager. It's a wild-ass show! They killed it, and pulling 9th out of that field was a good showing, indeed. I love those folks and I hope they blow up after this.

I watched Eurovision for the first time ever purely for Voyager. That was... a ride. But at least I got Promise at the end, which is a fuckin great tune. Also they're finalists!

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I was scrolling aimlessly around my winamp and paused briefly on Age of Nemesis, so I threw on Terra Incognita.I used to listen to this disc A LOT when working way too damned much, and I have a nighttime deploy coming up tonight so maybe my brain just did one of those funny memory latching things it...

Call me a dinosaur, but I want the "experience" of the music I listen to ..... I watch / listen to music in so many ways / formats I won't go too much into detail here ....but I am barely digital here except for samples and experiment listening ......the rest are the bodies of the music - CD, Vinyl...

I was having one of those "1300+ hours of music and nothing to listen to" days and I ended up throwing on the entire Erra discography. Turned out to be a fantastic choice.

Voyager everything from The Meaning of I through the current singles. I decided I needed something fun in my life today. Also I'm just happy for them to be in Eurovision.

Re: How do you listen to music?

I used to listen in my car a lot more than I do now but I'm fully remote now (and my car has a blown speaker on the drivers front, whomp) so that's much less common. Far and away the most common listening for me is the 2.1 Logitech speakers on my computer desk while I work. It's good enough for the ...

Nerve End - The Cycle

I brought it up in the New Stuff thread but since the album is out now I wanted to highlight it. It's really good. It's a jazz and djent influenced modern prog metal album with a lot of nice stuff going on. They've got a pretty unique sound and feel I think. https://nerveend.bandcamp.com/album/the-c...

They're just kinda...doing whatever they feel like. It rules. This one's got a lot of pop vibe woven through the heavy and I'm really enjoying it.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Very recently (as mentioned in other posts) I've gotten into "deathcore". One of those bands that surprised me a lot was Shadow of Intent , that honestly has more in common with prog/tech death and symphonic death metal than anything 'core if you ask me. Sure, there are heavy as heck breakdowns, bu...

Nerve End is kind of a jazz inflected djenty modern prog outfit. They're supposedly coming up on their first LP soon and they put this single out yesterday, which I very much enjoy.

What a waste of talent. This always comes off weird to me. Dude's getting paid on his voice so it's clearly not going to waste. Anyway, in his stint with The Ralph I didn't think he was really riffing on anyone else's tone too much, personally. Also, great album imo. https://theralph.bandcamp.com/a...

Enigma Division - Pretty cool, slightly djenty stuff that's like mixing Tales from the Fuselage/Shattered Skies and recent Evergrey riffage. If the vocals were up to the level of the music this would be a frontrunner for album of year. https://youtube.com/watch?v=XYkz8fr9pTA&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE Whe...

Super well executed modern take on classic progpower. I know this will find some fans here. Hat tip to Glenn, whose purchase on Bandcamp is what tipped me off to this album.

Stride - Imagine REALLY strong (basically) one-and-done band from early 2000s, right around the time of Circus Maximus debuting as, if I recall, both played the same ProgPower. HOLLOW HOUR - Till the Grey Skies Are Gone Been listening to this album pretty much non-stop the last two days ... it's a debuting Danish prog metal / djent-lite band, that sounds like VOLA meets Valis Ablaze, Unprocessed and a tiny bit of Dizzy Mizz Lizzy (which I guess is to be expected for a Dan...
