Darkwater re-masters .......

Darkwater has re-mastered 2 of the 3 of their discs ......... Calling the Earth to Witness, and Where Stories End have been re=mastered by Jacob Hansen ....... I wasn't exactly thrilled with that prospect, considering I don't care for Jacob Hansen recordings to begin with .... however, Where Stories...

AVKRVST / The Approbation ....... gem of the year (so far)

Normally, when a disc of this magnitude comes along, there is quite a buzz about stating " masterpiece" .. " disc of the year " ... " you have to get this "...... strangely, I got none of that initially, so when I was browsing The Lasers Edge for some music, I stumbled upon this disc. The write up, ...

I've been playing the videos non-stop now ..... I love the music .......I almost pulled the plug until I heard the vocals ....... they are not bad at all, but I detect a very thick accent there ? Someone talk to me about this as I'm close to hitting the buy button ....... the music alone was enough...

Like I said, if you like PT then you really need to hear this. ****Amazing disc - absolutely melodic bliss. Now if I can only find the disc ..........

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I would actually submit that Jeff Watson was a more impressive player than Brad Gillis (which just goes to show what an amazing two-guitar attack that band had). I thought Gillis was the flashier of the two but that Watson was actually tastier and more proficient. ***I've heard this discussion from...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Re: Extreme...I really didn't care for this band back in the day, and really disliked Cherone (both his voice and the way he carried himself...very similar to my feelings about LaBrie). Re: What are you listening to right now?

Ricochet "Kazakhstan" - First new album from this outfit in something like 15 years? Songwriting is strong, but the new singer rubs me a bit the wrong way. This is a crazy statement, but I hear a mix of Paul Manzi and Blaze Bailet (sp?), with a dash of Messiah Marcolan tossed in here and there. Rea...

Re: How do you listen to music?

Well … to me it’s the other way around: if it sounds GREAT to me on my systems, why would I ever put myself through the torture of buying equipment on which is sounds horrible? Especially if that equipment is more expensive than what I have. That doesn’t make any sense to me at all. Each to their o...

Re: How do you listen to music?

Do what works for you. You seem to be happy with your set up. Frankly (no insult intended) a system like mine would be wasted on the music you predominantly listen to. Production on metal albums is so poor, so crushed, that there is no real benefit. Earbuds or a computer are good enough. ^^^^ And t...

Alrighty then. I've been working from home full time for 15 years, so the audio setup has gone through quite a bit of evolution. The only equalizing thing I bring to this every Kamelot album sounds fantastic in my cars system except Awakening. It's still good but not up to the bar they normally set. Tommy produces his own vocals in SW, and they're impeccable, bright and clear. Sascha needs to let someone else in the mix boot...

LEGACY PILOTS / Helix

Another release from Legacy Pilots, and another home run for this band.
