Re: Carisma / 1825 - revisited.

I believe the guys @ Dream Disc were Brent & Brian? They knew I liked the more progressive metal stuff and they would say this one is your bag - the vocals do not start until about 3 minutes into the songs and all the tunes are 8 minutes+. I think you'll dig it. I never got into the Carisma - 1...

Re: Carisma / 1825 - revisited.

I remember when that disc was a big deal on these boards, but at the time I was a poor college student and had to prioritize purchases. Never got that one, or Payne's Gray, or some of the other stuff that looked "straight prog" to me. (At that time I was more into the Gothenburg scene.) *...

Carisma / 1825 - revisited.

I did something I never do ..... I took Carisma / 1812 into the car with me out on the road. I NEVER take this disc out of the house, and I should have made a CD-R of it before hand and then taken that with me. ( slaps self in the head ). Nothing happened to it - but as I thought about it sitting th...

Adding to the praise for this album. As everyone keeps saying.... It's doom, but it's.... NOT. Definitely has a few chuggy-chuggy slower sections, but even during those parts Andy's vocals keep it from feeling overly doomy. What stood out to me as much as Andy's stellar singing were the lead guitar...

Going to have to disagree a bit on this one. TARJA sounds great (but then, when DOESN'T she?) but the songs ofttimes don't work well. Feliz Navidad and I Want to Wish you a Merry Christmas are WAY to slow and plodding. Personally, I enjoyed the last two albums..... Not as much as "Shadow Cabin...

Re: KANSAS / Leftoverture - Live and Beyond.

I'm going to agree on all of your comments here. The mix and overall sound is very tasty indeed. Ronnie does a good job here, but he is not Steve Walsh. Re: KANSAS / Leftoverture - Live and Beyond.

The Prelude Implicit is a very heavy album for Kansas. Some fans of heavier stuff may enjoy the disc. It definitely came across live as well. The old songs are dressed up with two guitars and the music had heft like it hasn't had for a long time. It's now largely guitar-based rather than keyboard a...
