Re: The neo-prog journey countinues... Shadowland...

I only discovered this band once they put out the box set a few years ago re-issuing all the CDs and live album. I bought it blind based on the names involved. Not sure how I missed out on these guys back in the day, but this is definitely a good find for anyone digging into the genre. I've never h...

Re: The neo-prog journey countinues... Shadowland...

This post, and especially the Strangers in a Train post, brings back so many memories of Neo-Prog gone by. The great Erik Welty first got me into Neo-Prog, I'd say around 1995 or so, and then Ken picked up the ball and ran with it for me ........ and still does, even though those years will never be...

Re: COLLIBUS - Trusting The Illusion

I played a couple of tunes - and while I enjoyed the first one, I didn't care for the second one ...... I seem to enjoy the female singers more in a "Goth" setting than I do in a strictly straight or power metal act..... I'm not sure why that is. I know some of these women have great voic...

Same for this disc ..... just keeps getting better and better. I find myself playing this and the new Tomorrow's Eve constantly day in and day out ......... Not one filler song to be found, and I have to finally admit that Paul Manzi sounds great. Pepper's Ghost (2005 gasp !!!) was the last Arena di...

As far as disks we're looking forward to, I'm surprised no one mentioned Kingcrow. For some reason the wait for this one is bothering me more than other anticipated disks. Not sure if it's because I pre-ordered it about a year and a half ago, but the wait for this one really seems long. ***Guy - yo...

I don't think there's been a single release this year that has done much for me. Re: 2018 So Far

As much as it sounds rock, my problem with it is that all 3 CDs sound the same and are boring as hell. Yeah, if a band is going to ask listeners to have the patience to stick with a very, very long studio album, then a sense of direction to the music is critical. It needs to feel like each song is ...

Dang Larry, and I was so excited for Therion too. Amazon has 10 reviews and all of them were 5 star ratings, calling it absolutely "epic".....I'll trust your judgement on this one, as many are saying it's more rock than metal, and I always prefer their metal stuff, so I have a feeling I'd...

I really enjoyed the music exactly as you describe it ....... I didn't go back and read my posts on it, but I'm almost positive that I had some problems with the singer after a few tunes...... while he is good, I thought his voice started to grate on me after a few songs........accent maybe ?

Sorry to be the Debbie downer, but I can't be the only one who wishes this band would do more of the heavier edge proggy stuff like the track Tempest from the last CD. It being "light" is actually an encouragement for me. There's plenty of dark and heavy bands around that I can listen to when I want. Bands with such a sharp melodic sense like Subsignal (or Seventh Wonder, etc) and such strong vocal talent deserve as much appreciation as they can get. **...
