Re: What are you listening to right now?

The new one from The Interbeing is really landing with me and I'm running their discography the last few days. I'd forgotten how much their singer reminds me of the singer from Sybreed, who I love.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I was late to In Flames' 2019 album I, The Mask, but I absolutely adore it now. I go back to it a lot when I'm feeling kind of listless musically, such as tonight. There's really no weak tracks on it imo.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Grabbed the last two Intervals albums on a whim this morning, still great. I've got the new Polyphia queued up again after them, though, because I cannot get enough of it. Playing God and Ego Death just hit so good on every listen.

That said, I'd also like to echo what Claus is saying (though with a bit less aggression lol). The “aggression” is a mere joke that probably didn’t come across well here since y’all aren’t privy to the multiple weekly text messages between Larry and I calling each other names :) Oh I know it's not ...

I don't think they count as heroes really, but I've been listening to the Above Symmetry album, Ripples, again lately and it's still quite good. It's a shame they broke up, but at least they put out one great album on the way. Great disc, and agree it's a shame they never put out another..... Can't...

I think the shortest answer is "posting here takes time and energy just like everything else and sometimes you ain't got spare." I mean, hell, I own this place and I don't make it around a lot of days because making it through life is just a lot. That said, I'd also like to echo what Claus is saying...

Architects - A New Moral Low Ground
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9mA1iLE-UY

It's...ok. It's packed full of noise, like industrial static sounding, and it just kinda gives me a headache. The riffage itself is good enough, but. Not really grabbing me here.

Nice! I went to Tilburg in 2019 for Ayreon at 013 and I've been charmed by the place ever since. I'd love to go back for almost any reason, but definitely for some quality shows. Did you see the announcement of the "01011100101010010101111000001100101001" performance next year? Sept 2023? I did. I ...

Most likely it's a problem of the browser blocking mixed origin content (http and https mixes) or the kind of embed the plugin is attempting to generate. My Firefox doesn't like those youtube tag embeds.

Anyway here's the boring old link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKCbYA395Ks

New Ascendia today, too. It's good, but I'm not sure they have a guiding light on what their style should be right now. That's not really a problem, but it could become one.

A new Circles single from a few days ago! Feels very pop structured but that doesn't put me off. The Aussie prog scene really produced some great acts that went in all kinds of directions.

I’ve listened to this disc so many times in the past week that I know it by heart. I think what sets me and some of you apart here is that the standard prog metal stuff to me has gotten very stale and that’s just not where I find the for-me-interesting-stuff these days. I know a lot of you still love new stuff in the trad prog genre, and that’s great. But for me it isn’t where my...

Unprocessed - Gold The next generation of prog metal bands are ready to take over, and this is going to be one of those at the front. This album is blowing my mind … so amazing! I liked the last album of theirs but on “gold” they’ve stepped it up a hundred notches. Incredible! https://youtu.be/wmQ4...

The new Aeternam is out slightly early and holy shit it's beastly. If you've ever liked Orphaned Land then definitely check them out. Epic Middle East-inspired progressive melodeath (I think that's the most applicable genre salad I can apply here). https://aeternam.bandcamp.com/album/heir-of-the-ris...
