Re: Quantum - The Next Breath of Air (EP)

This completely bad ass !!!!! They look so calm and comfortable playing this stuff like they've been doing it for years and years. So cool to see the young ones carrying the flag - although it makes me feel even older than I feel ....... I had no problem with the vocalist -- I really liked the tone ...

Re: Paul Manzi Leaves Arena

I'm sure that the band will take on a new sound with him - but then Threshold didn't so this could be very interesting. Well ... Threshold started out their sound with Damien so of course they didn’t change it when he returned neither second or third time lol ***Let me ponder that for awhile .........

I can't imagine what ARena will sound like with Damian in the band - but I'm beyond ecstatic over this news. I was almost hoping to read " the return of Rob " !!!!! But upon reading this - everything else didn't matter. :D I'm sure that the band will take on a new sound with him - but then Threshold...

Re: Overlooked melodic powerprog

Here's another older one that I paid zero attention to at the time but sounds pretty damn good to my ears now. Centaur - The God Complex It's got elements of the first Conception album especially the singer. The rest is kind of a mashup of Hollow and Tad Morose. I have zero clue why I ignored this ...

Top 5 for 2020......so far.......

There isn't a lot of music blowing me away in 2020 .....sadly. We usually put out a TOP list around the halfway mark, but I didn't see any yet....... so here is mine, definitely subject to change: These are not in any particular order --- DELAIN / Apocalypse and Chill - This is definitely one of the...

This band was formed back in the 90s ...... as Claus said, they sound like something between Galactic Cowboys and Kings X ......and they toured with those bands. Re: Neo-Prog: Where should I look now?

I got the 2 CD edition of "Mouse". It's actually 6 extra songs. In 1992, they released "The Meeting" EP which is actually Act 5 of "Mouse". There was pressure to release an album, so they released "The Meeting" before finishing writing the 8 Acts of "Mouse". In 1995, they released "Mouse" without A...

Just listened to the first couple of tracks on the way to grab lunch, but dang.... The title track might be my favorite new song of the year. The lead guitar actually reminds me a lot of Chris DeGarmo for some reason, and of course Andy sounds phenomenal. Don't expect the whole album to be THIS goo...

Re: Thoughts on some new music .........

I love melody and I love hearing Andy sing at his absolutely best (that would still be Twilight’s Eye for an Eye), but I disagree wholeheartedly about this being better than the last two Sorcerer albums. It’s missing the doom factor for one, and the songwriting strikes me as “less”, kind of throwaw...

Sorcerer I'm really digging too. The previous were okay to me, I only bought for Andy. This time it appears he and Connie spent a lot of time with the vocal lines and melodies. There is a third Cynthesis album done but just the tracks for the vocals and guitars. We were having a hard time getting the drums and bass player we had in mind to commit to it. Hopefully we can get this out at some time in the near future.

I'm not sure if the virus has heightened or lessened my sense of taste -- I seem to be gravitating away from the bands I normally love, and heading for bands that I don't listen to that often --- or I could just be in a stagnant mode again.
