Re: Stryper - Even the Devil Believes...
This was one of my favorites of 2020. It's just all-around tight and every song is highly memorable. Probably their best album.

Re: Is Circus Maximus Website really gone?
My understanding was that Pagan's Mind had quietly disbanded, but nothing is confirmed. I know Circus Maximus were working on a new album that dived back into the old proggier sound again (mostly Isolate).

Re: My Top 20 list of 2019
Nice to see Lance King on another list. I was surprised no one seemed to like it as much as me here. :D It seemed a lot of people found the lyrics awkwardly phrased or lacking subtlety. It’s not totally inaccurate, this I did drop its ranking slightly from where I had it at first, but the positive ...

My Top 20 list of 2019
It’s smaller than last year, which was smaller than 2017. Partially because my tastes are changing and also I don’t have as much time or interest in checking out new music. Several post-rock, ambient, or generally non-metal or non-prog albums showed up here. Also, Arch Echo was a glaring omission fr...

On second listen, this is growing on me further. Definitely a potential AOTY candidate now.

Re: Lance King - Reprogram...
The occasional cheese is my only real complaint about the disc aside from a couple of songs that felt a tiny bit rushed to get finished. The production is outstanding, the musicianship a step up from the first solo disc, Lance's vocals are still in completely top form even as he goes into his 50s, a...

Re: Devin Townsend - Empath
This is one of the most crazy and messed-up stylistically albums that I've ever heard outside of outright avant-garde. It's a little too much so for me at first listen but there are tons of absolutely ingenious moments, the humor is present in spades, the theatrical influences are neat and a rather ...

Re: Enchant: Please guide me
I have every Enchant album, so here's a short opinion post. If you want melody and accessibility, the three post-Craddick albums are stronger generally. Craddick was a very busy and jazzy drummer, Flanegan is rock groove. Blueprint is a great disc, but it does tend to be a little bit too busy and di...

Darkwater - Human (first impressions of the full disc)
I have had this for a few weeks, but never had the motivation to sit down with it. Most of the time, prog-metal and anything heavy in general really doesn't sit well with me anymore. Long story, will describe if you wish. In light of this, Darkwater, being generally a really heavy and downcast band,...

Re: New Myrath & Voyager videos
The new Myrath songs just aren't clicking with me right now. Just feels like a discount version of the last disc. The Voyager on the other hand is terrific.

Re: Bands known for Christian themes
To go with those not yet mentioned, I have a pretty good size list as I do a lot of research on this subject. Some bands are more well-known and a few are rather obscure or not necessarily known for spiritual themes. Entire band: Galactic Cowboys The Great Gamble Images of Eden Silent Lapse Torman M...
