Re: New stuff Friday ...

WITHIN TEMPTATION - Shed My Skin Okay, it's not a full album, but a 6 song EP, consisting of one new (title song) tune, the two previously released singles and instrumental versions of all three. Modern Within Temptation is not the same as where they started out 20 years ago, nor do they sound like...

Re: New stuff Friday ...

I ordered: QUEENSRYCHE / Operation: Mindcrime - vinyl newly remastered at Abbey Rd Studio. (Thanks to you). The recent 180g vinyl was a big disappointment and sounded lame compared to the re-mastered CD. I'm hoping that this one steps it up to where it finally should be. From what I read, this will ...

Re: Pain of Salvation / 12:5 - Vinyl edition.

As suspected, the CD version is better than the vinyl version, but this time not by much ........there is a ton of bass stored on the CD, and I actually had to turn my subwoofer down a bit ......but the music is clear and crisp as are the vocals. The vinyl is much sharper, much more crystalline in s...

Re: Pain of Savation / BE ..... vinyl edition.

Lo and behold I did a comparison between the vinyl and the accompanying CD that comes with it ....... the differences are staggering. The vinyl is mastered hot, with tons of treble, crisp clean vocals, and no bass to speak of ..... The CD now has a very good amount of bass, has a fuller sound, but t...

What I failed to add to these PoS posts is that both version of the vinyl so give you the CD version of the re-mixes as well. You will have to buy the vinyl to get these CD versions if I'm not mistaken.

Pain of Savation / BE ..... vinyl edition.

I just got around to playing this new vinyl from PoS ....... Re: Pain of Salvation / 12:5 - Vinyl edition.

“12:5” is still, and will always be, the album I dislike the most in their discography (even more so that “in the passing light of day”). The way they (mid)treated all those great songs in the live setting here was just horrible to me. Every time I go back and listen to it, it upsets me. ****Old ma...

It doesn't have to be "the same" to be good. I went (skeptically) to the show here last year, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tate sounded great, and the band did a mostly solid job musically. If he comes near you, I'd recommend it, honestly, and I never thought I'd say that! ***Yes I get it ... and do ...

Re: EVERSHIP / The Uncrowned King (Act I) ......

It's back to that old concept that once a band writes that disc that captures our hearts ( in this case it's Evership's debut ), then we compare everything after to it. I realize that it's not fair to the bands to do this, but we as listeners really have no choice. We want everything to follow to be...

Just finished my first listen of this and it's pretty great. Well executed melodic powerprog of the kind that's been kicking around for 25ish years, but with more modern sound palettes.

Men Who Climb Mountains was an incredible disc, however it was extremely dark and not something I can listen to often. Love Over Fear is the antithesis. Bright, positive, and authentically so.
