Re: Fates Warning & Haken Live CDs / DVDs .....

Just got my Fates and Haken discs in the mail thanks to The Lasers Edge -- just opened the Haken first, and will fire up the live show and see what's up. Cool double cd / dvd box set - nice artwork. Don't care for the set list much, but we all have our thoughts on what bands should play on their dvd...

My Top 3 so far - and some other thoughts.......

I've got so much time to play and check out music lately it's not even funny - it evens becomes tedious after awhile if that makes sense. Having an injury that keeps you home dictates that you do one of two things - play music or watch TV. I've opted for the music, and luckily this has been a stella...

I have on Blu-ray the Rush documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage". If I remember correctly the band said that without Neil Peart this is the end of Rush... So if it's still true, this might be the end... ***I remember that segment - and also remember Grohl and Jack Black being on the blur...

Larry: Sola would be the one you should try your hands/ears on ... it’s the heaviest and most progressive of the bunch. The Light is basically a heavier Genesis, not much hard rock to it if that’s what you’re looking for. SMPTe is the first Transatlantic disc and it was really unique for its time (...

With so many egos, attitudes and shitheads out there in the music world, it's nice to see someone come out and say this about Neil Peart: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/would-dave-grohl-replace-neil-peart-in-rush/ And I agree -- I think there would be a lot of people trying to kick his ass if so ....

Neal Morse is an incredible songwriter who seem to get better and better with the years. I don't think there's anyone more prolific - like it's not even close. This post, and especially the Strangers in a Train post, brings back so many memories of Neo-Prog gone by. I played a couple of tunes - and while I enjoyed the first one, I didn't care for the second one ...... I seem to enjoy the female singers more in a "Goth" setting than I do in a strictly straight or power metal act..... I'm not sure why that is. I know some of these women have great voic...

As much as it sounds rock, my problem with it is that all 3 CDs sound the same and are boring as hell. Yeah, if a band is going to ask listeners to have the patience to stick with a very, very long studio album, then a sense of direction to the music is critical. It needs to feel like each song is ...
