Re: Persefone - Lingua Ignota Part I

It took me a bunch of listens to get used to the new singer, but he is great, and I think they found a good fit here. Musically it continues the direction they've been going lately, which is more "modern" extreme prog, and less of their original neoclassical-infused prog-death of their early days. T...

DRACONIAN - Under a Godless Veil I still think it's a crying shame that Heike left the band, and while the albums with Lisa were good, I doubt that Draconian will ever again make anything as powerful as this one ("Under a Godless Veil") or "Sovran". Heike's voice is a one-of-a-kind, whereas Lisa is...

Another couple of great releases this Friday: MANTICORA - Mycelium I’m obviously biased but I love this (musically… the production kinda sucks and using a drum computer instead of real drums is a no-no in my book). Nevertheless, the songs are awesome! Not their best, but even at 90% they are still b...

CALIGULA'S HORSE - Charcoal Grace
Wow, this album is incredible. I like the band, especially after the last album really opened up their music for me, but I hadn't expected this new one to be THAT good. I'm blown away. Potential top candidate for 2024 right out of the gate.

Re: This really annoys me about iTunes (anyone else feel the same)?

I use Amazon Music and I never buy a single ..... ever. Don't care what band it is - full disc only here. Any market scheme detected goes unpurchased.... I hate when bands / sites pull that crap ........ For me a single is a great way to get into the mood of an album before it comes out - one song ...

I still mainly use Bandcamp and you can generally get around this by buying individual tracks off of the whole album when it comes out, but man...what a pain in the ass. Look I'm super down to be a patron of the arts, but don't make it so fucking obnoxious, eh? It seems backwards to me ... you shou...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I have decided to revisit Shadow Gallery discography after quite some years. Carved in Stone is my absolute favorite, probably because this was their first their album I listened to. Then my ranking is 2) Tyranny, 3) Room V, 4) Legacy, 5) debut, 6) Digital Ghosts. I like Tyranny and Room V, I value...

Another chapter of Crimson Glory. Of course, nothing will touch the 1st two releases, but it still sounds great to me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K66dL16MVy0 I enjoyed it as well - it has a bit of a "Astronomica" vibe to it, which isn't bad. It made me go back and listen to the first album t...

Not necessarily "new" but I found out today that all-girl metal band MEANSTREAK has reunited. Back in 1988 I enjoyed the heck out of "Roadkill", and I still have my original vinyl here. Interestingly enough, 3 of the 5 band members ended up marrying Dream Theater members - what gives? Anyway, it was...

I agree with this theory - and yes I'm sure it could work for lots of music you wouldn't normally listen to ..... This really annoys me about iTunes (anyone else feel the same)?

All three issues are related to pre-album release singles... 1) When a band releases singles prior to the album release, one at a time, and with each single they ask you to pay just a bit more by adding on the song you just purchased a month earlier. Case in point: Witherfall's upcoming album is pre...
