Re: ARENA / The Theory of Molecular Inheritance ......
At the risk of saying something insensitive, but maybe you don't have the "right" sound system then? Or need more than one? If there's strong quality material out there you aren't enjoying because of the way it sounds on your setup, maybe have a secondary or different setup..... (This feels overly ...

Re: ARENA / The Theory of Molecular Inheritance ......
Got a chance to listen to this solo in the car (Bose 10 speaker system, so definitely able to give it a fair critique sonically), and Larry..... I don't hear what you hear.... AT ALL. The disc sounds great to me. No issues at all with the mix. What I DO hear, and you highlight clearly, is how track...

Evership / The Uncrowned King - Act 2. Very disappointing indeed. I got this with the new Arena and I thought I would be 2 for 2... nope. I skipped this one as I wasn't overwhelmed with the first one. NP - Symphorce "Unrestricted" (Andy B Franck, very "ehh" songwriting) ****The first one actually g...

Re: Road Trip - Lots of new releases
Great post --- love posts like this, they are far and few though these days. Seventh Wonder “The Testament” – It’s very prototypical SW, complete with big lush melodies and sufficient noodling to keep listeners occupied. I can’t find anything not to like on here, but come away feeling that this was ...

I agree. Damian's voice is so distinctive that when I hear it my brain goes "this is a Damian album" not "this is an Arena album". I feel the same way about Fabio in Angra. In both cases I like the singers and bands but I would rather they not be together even though they produce quality albums... ...

1) I’m surprised you are a late comer to the band. I thought you jumped on board like I did with the debut in 1995. Perhaps that’s why you’re so married to the sound of “immortal” and “visitor”. ***Consider me old. I can only remember back as far as 1998 .....I was on board with you on the debut, j...

ARENA / The Theory of Molecular Inheritance ......
Thanks to The Lasers Edge I finally got my hands on a copy of the new Arena disc. It is no secret that the band has set the price of the disc at $24, something that Im' sure doesn't sit well with lots of people, including me. From what I'm reading and hearing, the band ( or Clive Nolan ) has decided...

If you had asked me this 10 years ago - the list would have been much longer. Now, it has greatly diminished. ARENA - The Theory of Molecular Inheritance It took way too long for this to finally appear on iTunes (I think it was released on CD 2 or 3 weeks ago), but finally it's here and I've now listened to it from start to finish 6-7 times, and I'm stunned about how good this is. My expectations were high...

I'm taking the lazy man's route (again) and just listing some of my favs here ....... no order except for alphabetical. Yea I know the feeling. Heck, I'm listening to the Carpenters and Bread right now, still two of my favorite bands of the 70s :) and then I'll probably break out my Kitaro collection, great relaxation music....... ***Funny you write this ..... Re: PHILOSOPHOBIA / Philosophobia ....
Loving this album..... Getting the obvious out of the way, the combination of the Wastefall vocalist and Kristofer Gildenlow does lend an immediate early era Pain of Salvation sound to some of this, but it's definitely not a POS clone.... It's not as quirky as PoS, trending more in the heavy end of...

Been spending some time with this one ...... I would say that this is their most technical release to date as there is a lot going on here. Re: All Things Fallen
I'm at a loss on that one..... There's nothing on here that makes me think 80s at all. I hear an amalgamation of bits of different old school prog/power/metal bands, but all circa early 2000s. Flashes of different pieces, but Evergrey is probably dominant musically. MidKnight said the vocals gave h...

I've never gone down the Pendragon path. I vaguely know of them and have probably heard a song or two. I might be mixing them up with Galahad. British neo prog is not my strong suit.
