Maiden United - Entire discography Iron Maiden covers done right! It's always a joy listening to such incredible vocalists as Damien Wilson, Anneke van Giersbergen, Wudstik, Frank Beck... I will go on record and say that some of these songs are better in these versions than the originals. ***I enjo...

One of the best progressive symph/pomp rock bands ever. The first 5 albums were all amazing in my opinion, and I really enjoy a lot of their later releases as well.

1 - Queensryche "Digital Noise Alliance" - I have a fairly large (larger than usual anyway) list of GREAT albums, but didn't have a single "perfect" album this year. Given that, I just looked at the list and picked 'Ryche as that is the one I would most eagerly listen to right now. This isn't your ...

Finally got a chance to post my top discs of the year ....... I really had to think about this one, as only a few discs really blew me away this year. Outprogged42 -- I listen to less new music as the years go by, so I don't have that many. I also listen to a lot of non-metal or prog-related artists in addition. Releases I've liked from this year: Threshold - Dividing Lines (Prog-Metal) Images of Eden - Weathered and Torn (Prog-Metal, Heavy Metal)...

From Random Axe : As I’ve done the past couple of years, I’m not ranking, just observations and musings. It was an odd year for me and some pretty significant employment and personal changes so maybe if these had been released in 2021 I’d feel different. I'm at work and couldn't add a music link for...

I was telling my wife, I think I have a clear top four, and then there's like 20 albums bunched together. Re: Shadow Gallery - Carved in stone 2LP Vinyl release coming
I was referring to Shadow Gallery, I have zero interest in the other band... You can 'remaster' Tyranny yourself, all you are doing is passing the stereo mix though an audio program such as Audacity. How do you think labels like Rock Candy, who don't have access (in most instances) to any kind of m...

Re: Shadow Gallery - Carved in stone 2LP Vinyl release coming
None of those albums need a remix, or remastering they still sound great. The vinyl is not going to sound any better than the CD, unless it's 'remastered for vinyl', which is highly unlikely. So I really don't see the point of this release, just a 'cash grab' from the re-issue label. *****I agree w...

I wasn't sure I'd like this one as much as the last because I prefer the proggier side of Threshold, despite knowing they can crank out a catchy chorus in a traditional song structure as good as anyone else, as long as there's enough heaviness too. Wounded Land is still a sentimental favorite becau...

THRESHOLD - Dividing Lines Through the album 3 times now, and unfortunately it’s somewhat disappointing considering how awesome the first singles (“Silenced” and “King of Nothing”) were.
