Re: Whitesnake?
For me, Slide it In is an essential Whitesnake album. As Claus said, it's sort of a mix between the older, bluesier stuff and the huge mainstream-rock sound they became known for. But get the US version (which was remixed and replaced Mick Moody's guitar w/ John Sykes). I played it on youtube and m...

I'm getting away from this style - almost completely now ........I have no desire to hear this kind of music anymore for whatever reason..... but this was very well done, even the clown was disturbing .... hehehehehe ....... Don't get me wrong - I'll re-visit Brainstorm, Cloudscape, or whoever on a...

Re: Conception New Record in 2020
I just played the 2 new songs and then the EP again. Let me phrase it differently. Yes, the style is not THAT different. Maybe it's the production, but I hear more heavy guitars in the 2 new songs than on the EP, where only Grand Again (which is not "way heavier" than the new trx) and Quite Alright ...

I didn't care at all for the comeback EP, but really enjoy the 2 new songs so far. Glad the heaviness got back in their sound.

This new album would have been much better if David Readman and Andy B. Franck were still in the band... Victor smokes, yes, as always, but I think the songs were also better on the previous albums.

Huge Apollo fan here but didn't care at all about the first WSD disc. Big step forward with the new one, which is quite excellent all the way. Don't agree at all that the songs are interchangeable between the 2 albums as I didn't like the 1st one but I'll need to revisit to confirm. The new album m...

Tonight I'm playing their 2009 release "Karma" for the 2nd time. Wow! Truly excellent hard rock / metal! I also skipp...

Re: Psychotic Waltz...I get it now
The new album is out now. What does everyone think of it? Personally I love it. Must have listened to entire disc ~20 times now and I can’t get enough of it. In my opinion PW is back where they left. I hear bits and pieces that would fit in on all 4 of the previous albums. Luckily (!) there’s not m...

I think he's not as angry as Russell can be. I also hear some Chity Somapala in the vocals myself.Sir Exar Kun wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 3:00 pmReally enjoyed this..... Definitely has the angry Russ vocals going, but the music is certainly more than engaging enough to not let that be a detraction.

A buddy of mine mentioned this band to me. Traditional prog metal fans, rejoice! Another damn fine new band in that style ( I assume they're new as I never heard of them before). Agressive-yet melodic vocals, crunchy guitars. Didn't play the whole album yet, but the 3-4 songs I played on YouTube sou...

Nice list. I enjoy 12 of these albums to various degrees.
As for AOR/melodic rock album of the year, I enjoyed the Edge Of Forever album, but did you try JD Miller - Afterglow?

8. Edge of Forever/Native Soul - Journey meets Last Tribe. Really cool stuff indeed. 7. JD MIller/Afterglow - I may have described them wrong before or maybe not. Take Cloudscape and Eclipse, throw into blender and add a sprinkle of Pretty Maids. Melodic metal with some west coast AOR leanings. Nic...

As in recent years, I played around 320 albums in 2019. I ended up liking to various degrees about 100 of them. 1 out of 3 is not too bad I'd say. So, here's the top 50 and then the other albums I also enjoyed. 50) Tungsten - We Will Rise Drummer Anders Johansson (ex-Hammerfall, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen,...

Absolutely fantastic Swedish melodic power metal. This was another late 2019 release I just now got around to. This is fully in the Brainstorm/Innerwish camp. This is super highly recommended. Re: Serious Black - Suite 226...
I've heard the record, and I didn't find it very interesting at all. They're trying to be more traditionally power metal again, which I found rather trite. They were a bit more diverse on "Mirrorworld", and that's the only record of theirs I've actually liked in full. For being such veterans, they'...

The song “Slave” is very strong, but rest of the album is quite bland and gets boring really fast.
