Meanwhile, as modern prog rock/metal goes, Ions "Counterintuitive" is a pretty good album in Vola/Hollow Hour kind.
Thank you for pointing this one out - very good stuff. Been listening to it a good deal these past few weeks. Great recommendation.

BORKNAGAR - Fall I'm a fair weather opportunist when it comes to Borknagar ... well, actually, probably more the opposite - I like them when they are the underdog and people are not counting on them at all ... truth be told, of all their albums, my favorites so far has been their debut (which was t...

AMARANTHE - The Catalyst I really (!!!) enjoyed the first single, "Damnation Flame" when it was released last fall, and I've listened to it countless times since then. To me, as an avid Amaranthe-hater, this was a big surprise, and I decided to give "The Catalyst" a fair shot. So far only through h...

ARTIFICIAL LANGUAGE - Skinwalker
Can't wait for the new album if the rest of the material is as good as this song. It has a very clear Caligula's Horse meets Leprous vibe, but a bit more on the djentier side.

How do you listen to music? You only pick one (or a few) songs from each album, and then moves on to the next one? HANNES GROSSMANN - Echoes of Eternity This is just an EP and it looks like he has a brand-new lineup around him. It took me a bunch of listens to get used to the new singer, but he is great, and I think they found a good fit here. Musically it continues the direction they've been going lately, which is more "modern" extreme prog, and less of their original neoclassical-infused prog-death of their early days. T...
