Re: Whatever happened to...
Whatever happened to Digital Ruin? They had one of the more distinctive sounds of the era. ***Matt, the singer, left Digital Ruin to pursue a different path in music. He went to California and for a time, was a tech for Tommy Lee's band. Matt had a project, but if I remember right, it was sort of a...
Re: W.A.S.P.?
I was never a WASP fan ....... I didn't care for the band concept and Blackie's vocals felt like I was a getting a massage with sandpaper.

Re: EVERSHIP / The Uncrowned King (Act I) ......
It's back to that old concept that once a band writes that disc that captures our hearts ( in this case it's Evership's debut ), then we compare everything after to it. I realize that it's not fair to the bands to do this, but we as listeners really have no choice. We want everything to follow to be...

SYLVAN / One to Zero ...... what happened ?
This disc was one of my most anticipated once I saw that The Lasers Edge had it forthcoming ..........jumped on it immediately as I love this band. The problem is, I've been disappointed by their last two discs, and after so many years in between, I figured that this had to be the comeback for them ...

EVERSHIP / The Uncrowned King (Act I) ......
You know when you hear a band - many times over - and you know they have the potential to be the next best thing in their genre ? Well, Evership is that band ..... they have the potential to be the next Mystery *if* they could master their songwriting and get a label behind them ......as it is, thei...

I already posted in the New Stuff Friday thread, but decided also to start its own thread... Neo-Prog band Nine Skies from France Copy paste from the EPK: The new album is called “5.20” and will be released the 4th June 2021. Achraf El Asraoui joins the band to record this new album. It is an acous...

Few couple of months into this and it's definitely the best I've heard this year. Need is second at this point. *****I'm the opposite - Need beats this one for me, but not by much...... there is something so emotional about that Need disc that captures me. Turbulence is fantastic prog metal ..........

I did give the video a play, and it just didn't grab me. I can hear aspects of the bands mentioned, but at the time I tried it I just wasn't blown away (PERSONALLY). Keep in mind, of course, that a lot of the more modern prog isn't really my thing anyway (aside from Haken and Leprous, although Lepr...

Never heard of them before, but this description from their website had me laughing out loud: 6:33, the deformed mutant child of Tim Burton raping Devin Townsend and Mr Bungle in a deserted asylum ... That's just effing funny! I definitely hear a lot of Mike Patton styling in the vocals, so I guess...

Re: Pendragon - Love over Fear
Men Who Climb Mountains was an incredible disc, however it was extremely dark and not something I can listen to often. Love Over Fear is the antithesis. Bright, positive, and authentically so. Combining the old sound with the new perfectly. "360 Degrees," "Soul and the Sea," and "Eternal Light" hit...

Much like most here, I had been on the alt.prog sites all over the internet at the time. This one is certainly a classic ....... and indeed, I used to take the disc with me to electronic stores to demo gear with. I did manage to grab the last Cast bluray on the planet earth ...... it is an 8-song show with an orchestra. Re: LTE3!
Same for me - I have not listened to the new one, but in all honesty I'm not that anxious to dive into it. I'd much rather listen to a John Petrucci solo disc than the LTE stuff, only because of the song factor versus the jam factor...... That said - I had the privilege of seeing LTE ( thanks to Ken...

Re: Dark Horse White Horse (Marcela Bovio)
She's one who needs a little support in the songwriting department. Fantastic voice, but when she doesn't work with strong outside personalities (think Arjen) the music is a bit lackluster. Nothing wrong with that, but I'd be a bit cautious on this out of the gate also. ****I definitely agree with ...
