Re: Anathema-The Optimist....

I was very underwhelmed after one complete listen. It sounds very disjointed to me, doesn't flow at all well, too much Lee lead vocals, too much repetitiveness (lyrics and same melody) on some songs. Then the actual recording sounds like a different studio/producer on a few songs. Very disappointin...

Re: Bjorn Riis - Forever Comes to an End .......

I enjoyed this disc, although it really doesn't sound all that different from Airbag to me. This kind of moody and laid-back prog-rock appeals to me nowadays as long as I am in the mood for it. If you aren't then this won't be for you. ***I think his previous disc was much better than this one .......

Re: Tetrafusion - Dreaming of Sleep

It can be dense at times so those of you who can't bear that side of prog, stear clear. But those of you who like their prog to be challenging, this is definitely for you. With this said, I find Tetrafusion's music very unintimidating and pleasant to listen to despite its density and difficult musi...

Re: Tetrafusion - Dreaming of Sleep

Late to the party but damn... This is really good! Very proggy stuff while infusing lots of influences and catchy melodies. I hear some jazz, bluesy solos, djent, Floydian moments with a modern edge.... I mean, lots is happening. It can be dense at times so those of you who can't bear that side of p...

I have the first one. I remember really liking it. It was a bit uneven but they certainly had some nice melodies. It's been a while, I should dig it out.

I'll keep an eye out for this one.

I wouldn't expect much in new material from Styx these days. Though their live shows are quite good. Anyway, I just ran across this info, and know there are a few old school Styx fans here. so... "Styx fans got a somewhat unexpected surprise when the band announced the upcoming release of a ne...

I don't really get why everyone is so hot for Ronnie's voice, but he's ok, and the song is pretty darn good. They come out the same day, so I'm going to wager on this winding up being better than Jorn's new album. Dude, you crack me up. You seriously put an effort in hating everything... That being...

I still hold Nothingface as their best by a huge margin. Prog, innovative and heavy. It's got everything. KT was getting there but they got it perfectly on NF.
