SETYØURSAILS - Bad Blood Melodic metalcore with female vocals. Spiritbox meets Evanescence? It's very melodic and quite cheesy, but some of the songs are quite killer, especially "Eternally" and "Bad Company". nrx0vsHFGg4 EIDOLA - Eviscerate I've only gone through it once so far, but I was quite di...

I don't always have an interest in instrumental stuff, but I'll always pick up whatever Intervals is doing. This album will be fantastic if the singles are any kind of indication. Unprocessed ... live

Last night I went to my first concert in what feels like forever. Opener was a Canadian female-fronted metalcore band called RED HANDED DENIAL . I got some The Agonist vibes out of them (very versatile vocals, not too dissimilar from Alissa White Gluz), but also some more melodic elements, almost Ev...

1. Balance – In for the Count So beautiful! Would have make my top 15 for sure! Yes, that album is something special. I remember I was 11 or 12 when my uncle played it for me the first time, and I immediately loved it. Funny thing is that my 13 year old son really likes it as well, so I truly belie...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I've been listening to the new Erra, Cure, almost non-stop since yesterday. This album is FANTASTIC. Only one track kinda sticks out as an oddball, Past Life Persona, and even then it's not bad, it's just a bit different than the rest. Yeah I listened through it twice today. First full album of the...

Two for two … both singles so far are killer.

Re: New stuff Friday ...

Well, I think that where "Legacy" and "Shehili" were very close to each other, and definitely warranted the perception of a band who'll keep putting out the same album over and over, "Karma" is a complete shift. They do no longer sound like a "middle-eastern folk based version of Kamelot meets Symp...

BLAZING ETERNITY - A Certain End of Everything
Second single from upcoming album. I must have listened to this song 30+ times in the last couple of days. Incredible. The Katatonia vibe is strong with this one. This album has AoTY-candidate written all over it for me.

VENUES - Transience File this under "music that LarryD will hate"! It's a melodic metalcore band (think Annisokay) leaning heavily into that modern pop-metal sound that we know from later-day Within Temptation. I'm thoroughly enjoying this, and I find their sense of melody writing super interesting...

ARTIFICIAL LANGUAGE - Distant Glow As with both previous albums, this is killer djent-influenced next-gen prog metal. Very melodic, very technically proficient. Love it. But, why - oh why - why is this just an EP instead of a full length? I won't put EPs on my year-end list, so this is going to be ...

It took me a bunch of listens to get used to the new singer, but he is great, and I think they found a good fit here. Musically it continues the direction they've been going lately, which is more "modern" extreme prog, and less of their original neoclassical-infused prog-death of their early days. ...

In today’s world, you can pretty much discover and listen to any band you want. You see many favorite lists and many weekly lists and lots and lots of albums.
