The joke that went too far ...

The entire “let’s take some semi (or not) famous dudes and put make up on their faces so no one knows who they are, and then create a fake band playing whatever style we think is the next big thing” game has gone too far. First Powerwolf, then Ghost, then Gloryhammer and now Warkings?! https://youtu...

Re: New releases this week...

I just checked out the new Guardians of Time album ... not bad at all (better than the last two). “Machines of Mental Design” is still my favorite of theirs and probably the only one I’ll ever need. They still sound like Halloween, Judas Priest, Iced Earth and Iron Maiden all blended together ... go...

New releases this week...

There were a lot of interesting releases this week - i had my hopes high for these: Arion - it’s okay but perhaps I’m just a bit tired of this super cheesy fast “Spinefarm” style of power metal... it sounds like Dynazty, Beast in Black and Amaranthe all mixed together and it’s just too much sugar in...

So taking into account a somewhat refreshed distinction between "P" and "p" progressive...here's one that's absolutely in the latter. The new Polyphia is arguably more groove jazz than metal, but damn is it a stellar slab of music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_gkpYORQLU htt...

Tears of Blood was a great album. Haven't dug that out in a while. Might be time for a revisit. I love the debut - such incredible songwriting and performances. “Tears of Blood” had its moments but it never clicked for me in same way as debut. Probably due to the line up changes (vocalist, drummer)...

Here are 2 bands/albums that no one has mentioned. 1) Trival Act: Mindscape An awesome album that came out in 1997 (I believe). They were from Norway. This band was on the technical side of Prog, but very melodic as well. A Dream Theater meets Fates Warning as they had no keyboards in their sound. ...

Depressive Age Anyone remember them? For me this was one of the most “genre-pushing” bands of their time (early 90s).
