Re: My Top 30 of 2017

What was that? I'm only aware of the Mindfeed albums with Glynn singing, which were good indeed. http://www.leagueoflights.com/music.htm Really? I think he's the only one on target in that new Rainbow project. Blackmore is lifeless, his tone is flat and not heavy, the bassist and drummer look out o...

Re: My Top 30 of 2017

I play and enjoy lots of new music every year. 2017 was no different. Here we go... Great reviews!!! #1) Sorcerer - The Crowning Of The Fire King Legendary powerhouse Andy Engberg (ex-Lions Share, ex-Section A, ex-220 Volt) owns this album with one of his best performances. Great doom metal that is...

Re: MYRKUR sings Welcome Home by King Diamond....

Looks like Stevie is staying quiet on the new tune as well. I'm betting the rest of it will be typical Stryper since there were guest vocals on the chorus of that song. I'd like to know the tune below is really off a new upcoming King Diamond CD? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlsvxfLwcEo *** I wo...

Re: My Top 50 of 2017

Remember the Robert Frost poem? "Two roads diverged in a wood..." That describes the musical preferences of Claus & I. I just cannot follow him down the gloom/doom and classic/retro path. If he mentions those words, then fuck that stuff. I'm out without even listening. That said, ther...

Re: My Top 50 of 2017

1.looked at my list and forgot to include Nightlight Orchestra (I remember posting about them and save for one or w people was greeted with crickets) Yeah, I remember you were one of those mentioning it back when it was released. My problem with that disc is that I think Strid is a pretty mediocre ...

Re: Kælling - new prog band worth checking out!

I forgot to mention that this part in your review had me cracking up: "Kælling is a name that should definitely be taken seriously." - Considering that the name means BITCH in Danish, that sentence there was hilarious to me :)

Matt
Thank you so much for this recommendation. This disc is great!!! Yes, there’s some leprous in it for sure and I agree with a bit of katatonia (not just because of the cover). Your review is spot on. Keep those reviews coming - I keep finding new stuff there.

Re: My Top 50 of 2017

Wow monster post Claus! Much to go through here. Thanks for posting. Yeah it did turn out quite “monstrous” - I guess I should have started earlier in the year writing down my thoughts lol :) Hope y’all will find something interesting in there - if it just makes one person find a new album to like ...

Re: My Top 50 of 2017

Nice list! I should do mine too... I'd say we share many. Thanks - looking forward to seeing your list. But, to write that Tom Englund is a mediocre vocalist is quite weird... And not true.. Also, that Evergrey did only a couple good songs and repeated them all over their career? Wow... Is there a ...

My Top 50 of 2017

The "better late than never" list is finally done - this took way longer to write up than I had anticipated, but now that it's done I have another year until I need to think about this again. I hope it'll provide some ideas for music to check out, and if not, at least you can get a good la...

#3 - Need "Hegaiamas" - If not for the one track with nothing but spoken dialogue, this would be a spot higher. Still and all, Need have now proven to be one of the best "warm" prog metal bands on the planet, alongside the aforementioned Kingcrow and Wolverine. I actually though...

Incredible job writing all those reviews. I don’t agree with you on a few of them (hate the new PoS and can’t stand Voyager) but I’m truly impressed by your great reviews.

I’ll join the choir of those who are going to have to check out the white moth disc (love Daniel Tompkins voice).

Re: Jono - “Life” - great vocalist

So I just listened to this album this morning. I have to say, while he's a very good singer, good grief is the music boring. It's sort of like "Streets" or "Gutter Ballet" era Savatage, but without any of the grit, intensity, or great songs. The whole thing is basically his voic...

Had the minimum wage of 1968 ($1.60/hr) been adjusted for inflation, it would be $10.74/hr in 2013. Had the minimum wage been tied to productivity... from 1960 through today it would have risen to $22/hr. Productivity? As in "how much stuff I get accomplished in an hour"? I'd like to see how you wo...
