Re: WALLS OF BABYLON - A Portrait Of Memories

Forgot to mention that Anders Engberg (Sorcerer, ex-Lions Share, ex-Section A, ex-220 Volt) is up there in my list of fave singers as well. He can turn a good disc into a killer one just with magic vocals. Last Sorcerer is such a killer album and he's the main reason.

Re: WALLS OF BABYLON - A Portrait Of Memories

Guillaume, I agree on Leverage big time!!! Peika Heino is an absolutely amazing under-rated singer. I love his mid-ranges, especially on songs like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZFi_g3jyGw the vocals on this are soooo good and emotional, and he doesn't sound like anyone else, which is another pl...

Re: WALLS OF BABYLON - A Portrait Of Memories

Of those I only like Diego and Nils enough to the point where I’d check out a band due to their presence only - the rest doesn’t excite me (and you know how I feel about Romero - the rainbow killer!). I'll say again that Romero's vocals are the only saving grace of this reformed Rainbow. Blackmore'...

It's excellent! Tom fits great with the band, even though a bit more "reserved" than with Evergrey. I shared it on my FB! :)

Peika Heino (Leverage, Brother Firetribe) Good call on this one..... Haven't seen anything on Leverage in many moons now. Are they even still active? They're back, they have a new EP due later this year I think, but Peika is no more the singer... Kimmo Blom (Urban Tale, Raskasta Joulua) is th...

Well actually that is exactly the problem - he is not a good singer and it does stop me from enjoying the album and I could imagine it would do so for others as well. You and the singers... Maybe we've already been through this, but what are your fave singers? Focusing on the MELODIC hard r...

Musically it was good but the vocals were kinda bleh ... so, to avoid this getting into the usual discussion about how you and I almost never seem to agree on vocalists I decided not to say anything. WALLS OF BABYLON - A Portrait Of Memories

Here's some damn fine melodic prog/power metal stuff from Italy. Lots of nice riffs and melodies! It should appeal to some people here I think. Very quiet around these parts indeed. Maybe we need to start a fight around Ronnie Romero's skills to draw people around? Agreed :) Or we can return to our talk about WTF happened on that Feinstein album ... Nothing happened because the album rules and I still play it 15 years later!

MICHAEL ROMEO - War Of The Worlds Pt. 1

New lyric video is out.

John "JD" DeServio (bass) (Black Label Society)
John Macaluso (drums)
Rick Castellano (vocals) (anyone knows where this guy comes from?)

I like the song quite a bit, sounds more melodic than recent Sym X.

Re: Question about Praying Mantis - for you AoR people....

Legacy is amazingly decent. He isn't used to his potential on that or the new release. I'm in the Tony O'Hora camp of Praying Mantis. Those two albums are melodic rock/metal gems. Kinda like Royal Hunt without the bombast. I really like the O'Hora albums too. But they were on the light side. I real...

I've heard the new Praying Mantis album already, and since it's germane to the conversation, I'll say it was severely underwhelming to me. I'll give you that he's a pretty good singer, but the band is sounding pretty weak right now. They can't give him the showcase he needs. Did you like the previo...
