Re: Question about Praying Mantis - for you AoR people....

Legacy is amazingly decent. He isn't used to his potential on that or the new release. I'm in the Tony O'Hora camp of Praying Mantis. Those two albums are melodic rock/metal gems. Kinda like Royal Hunt without the bombast. I really like the O'Hora albums too. But they were on the light side. I real...

Re: Question about Praying Mantis - for you AoR people....

I've heard the new Praying Mantis album already, and since it's germane to the conversation, I'll say it was severely underwhelming to me. I'll give you that he's a pretty good singer, but the band is sounding pretty weak right now. They can't give him the showcase he needs. Did you like the previo...

Call me stubborn, but this new track didn't do much more for me than the first one ......yes it's better, but it's not making me hanker for the rest of this disc. They have to up the ante from II, and these two songs are not doing that ....... they need to raise the bar a bit more before I get exci...

Re: Voïvod - "Nothing Face" / "Angel Rat" / "The Outer Limits" CDs reissued in Japan

In case of the "The Outer Limits", I have both, the original MCA edition CD and the Metal Mind Remaster CD. Too me, the proper edition is the original MCA edition. This is I think the same master used for this 2018 Japan CD reissue. Which is to me a good thing... Never heard the Metal Min...

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (March 12, 2018)

Wow, what a killer show! 2h40 of music, songs from all eras of the band (save for the 90s and 00s) and UFO. Michael Schenker on fire and happy to be there, real tight band, all guys having a blast on stage. Robin McAuley, impressive, the one who kept his voice the most at 65. Doogie White, full in v...

Re: Royal Hunt - Cast In Stone

New album is not bad, but I think the keyboards overpowering the guitars is never a good idea... I don't see myself playing it very often.

My fave RH albums remain the first 2 with John West, when the guitars were really heavy and more upfront.

COLLIBUS - Trusting The Illusion

This female-fronted proggy power band released a good album a few years ago that I don't recall much but they reached the next step with this new one. Crunchy guitars, tight musicianship, nice melodies and powerful female vocals by Gemma Fox. Excellent stuff, check this out. This band would be a gre...

Floor is such a monster of a vocalist. I wish Nightwish was using her to her potential. It reminds me of listening to Urban Breed now versus back in the Tad Morose days.....
