Re: Anybody remember a band called Vengeance?

Arabia is an excellent song, and the album is quite good as a whole as well. Never ever thought of Crimson Glory though. My faves would be the 1st one, s/t from 1984, quite Saxon-like at times, and 1989's Arabia. But they released a good deal of good hard rocking stuff over their career. 1st album: ...

Re: Stryper radio airplay in the 80s?

I think this depends partly on where you lived. Detroit in the late 80s / early 90s had three really good hard rock / metal radio stations, and one of them (Z-Rock, national affiliate station) played a wider range of metal (well, metal and hair metal I guess) than MTV ever did. Yeah; I grew up at t...

LORD DIVINE - Facing Chaos

4th album of this Argentinian prog/power band, but the first I'm aware of. If you miss Melodic-Russ Symphony X style, check this out. Not saying it's of the same caliber of early SymX, but it's really good IMO. Great musicianship, excellent production. Singer is a certain dude named Diego Valdez. Ma...

Re: hey Guillaume - reg Audrey Horne

I've spent a good time playing several of the albums now, and I feel like I've got a good feel of their catalogue now. There seem to be 3 distinct styles over their career: A: first two albums ... somewhat alternative style that just doesn't appeal to me at all (kind of like Soundgarden meets Hella...

Re: hey Guillaume - reg Audrey Horne

I bought their latest album after reading your list the other day and it's been on non-stop play since then. There is definitely some real Thin Lizzy worship going on in here :) I read that they changed their style up somewhat after the first 3 albums, and that they were more KISS/party-rock before...

G - that's an awesome list .... I'm a little confused by your ranking method - it looks like you separated the Prog from the Power, yet you threw them all in together.....
