Re: LABYRINTH - Architecture Of A God

Seems like the speed is mostly gone if I can trust those two tracks. I'll admit Tiranti sounds a bit whiny but it doesn't take away from those excellent songs. Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Jean-Claude Van Damme? Yeah he does sound really nasally////Music seems abit dated as well...

Re: Pain of Salvation - ITPLOD - full review

By the way, I just saw them last week here live and while I thought they were really good, it felt like Daniel was holding back vocally. It made me think he's sitting in a very comfortable zone on this disc. He's got an amazing voice but he's not using its full potential. Any chance he legitimately...

Re: Pain of Salvation - ITPLOD - full review

No offense intended to anyone, but as a super hardcore fan of the early stuff (the first 4 are among the most important music recordings of my life), why or what makes anyone say this a return to form? DG is still a great singer but is generally toned down here. Where are the multi layered vocal pa...

I've got their debut, but don't even remember it...... This sounds much more enjoyable. Love the keys. Yes, last one is much better than the first album. Excellent stuff indeed. Agreed, they really took it to another level. There's not one bad track on there, maybe one average and that's it. That g...

The disc that owns my player lately: Enbound - The Blackened Heart

Another gem Guillaume pushed to me. This is a melodic power metal band with an awesome singer. Closest comparison would be Vision Divine with an excellent singer as well. He's lower pitched than Luppi and has more grit. For those who know their AOR stuff, he's the singer for Work of Art. It can be q...

I'm an easy bitch to please as it seems, so I can't just make a top 10, it's impossible for me. So, here's my top 35 for 2016 (the ranking order is good for today, but could change tomorrow, except for #1 and #2, as I enjoyed most of these 35 quite equally I'd say) **You are my favorite melodic met...

My pleasure!! Very good melodic thrash indeed! Better than the last Testament IMO because of no death vox, even though his vocals are at times really heavy. Still, the best melodic thrash album of 2016 for me remains ANTHRAX-For All Kings. Nah on the Testament. Chuck Billy rules!!! This d...

Here's a nice surprise for you thrashers. If you like your this stuff with a nice production, you have to give them a shot. The riffing is excellent, playing is tight, they infuse some nice melodies here and there plus they know how to pace themselves. It's not all double bass stuff. The singer is e...

First disc was pretty good although a bit too much Priest worship. If they can steer away from that and concentrate on their power/prog sound, we could have a monster on our hands.

Stupide name but awesome band: Danger Angel - All the king's horses

This is a mix of different things. First off, it's very melodic filled with hooky choruses. I'd say the best description is melodic metal but it's got some power, AOR, prog all mixed in one band. They use lots of modern keys, the singer sounds a bit like Terrence Holler but I'd say he's better. The ...
