Re: Alien Weaponry

I wish I liked thrash so I could be into these folks. I just...really don't like thrash at all. I gave them a shot when NPR did a feature on them months ago, and I love the concept but ehhhh. My loss, I guess. You don't like thrash? Do you like death metal? Black metal? Old stuff like Sepultura? Ev...

Re: Alien Weaponry

I've spent more time with this and it's been getting better and better. This is heavy, melodic at times, no death vox and definitely thrash. The use of Maori language and chanting fits the music perfectly, it's different and fresh. It's like they took Sepultura's recipe and improved it. Try this: ht...

Nothing much of interest for me since the beginning of the year. I'm going back in time to old favourites like Shadow Gallery, some classic hair metal and some thrash.

I'll try the Xenoverse and the Alien Weaponry.

Cheers people!

Schenker was awesome, really into it. Talked to the crowd a few times as well. Really a killer guitarist and one of my faves ever. All the guys seem to get along well, they smile all the time and really seem to enjoy playing and singing together. Really cool. I feel blessed to have attended a kind ...

Ugh... Wasn't a fan of his last effort as the big melodies of the debut Lullubies were gone.

With the colder sound you're talking about, I'm thinking I won't like this one either. :(

Inflikted, the first album, is amazing. I like Blunt Force Trauma, but started getting tired of Max putting out albums left and right between Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy. I still like what I hear, but I don't feel the need to own any of it right now. Thanks for the tip, I'll check this one out....

Re: Cavalera Conspiracy anyone?

To me, CG isn't a really heavy band but more of a melodic metal one with big prog influences. Doesn't mean it's not awesome though. :) It's true in general, but this particular song (Red Sharks) is more heavy than their other songs. But even this song is maybe not that heavy compare to these days h...

I don't think I can get into this band based on this song on Youtube. I'm not much into that kind of vocals... Cavalera Conspiracy anyone?

From time to time, I need some real heavy stuff to balance the Ying and the Yang. So, I started playing some old school thrash classics and I stumble on Sepultura - Roots. It sounds a bit dated today but there is some good stuff on there. Then, a good friend of mine points me towards the Cavalera br...

I don't post often lately cause I have a new job keeping me real busy but this one needs to be talked about. I'll be blunt: This is probably their best since Clone. The Portnoy extravaganza was partially ruined by the Haken singer. Should have let the guitarist sing, he was way better and much more soulful. But I've never liked the Haken singer's nasal style. Overall it was pretty good, but yah... it felt like a cover band, as there was little charisma from th...
