Re: The Forgotten Heroes of Prog Metal Thread

On the flip side of all of this, there's one band and album that most people disliked but which somehow managed to hook me: Behind the Curtain - Till Birth Do Us Part . Really weird vocal that kept prompting me to reach for the stop button... right before something beautiful stayed my hand. Woefull...

Re: The Forgotten Heroes of Prog Metal Thread

I have to admit I’m a little bummed out. When I saw the title of the thread and that Claus started it I assumed it was all about me. :(

OK I’ll play. My fav is Gone “Weakness Within Living Memory”.

Re: Blast from the past: SANVOISEN!!

I remember when the late, great Erik Welty turned me on to this band way back when ....... I told him I loved Queensryche, and he suggested this band ........ two great discs, a shame it never continued. So strange how bands of this era just stopped dead in their tracks after releasing one or two d...

Re: The post about re-masters ....... good or bad ?

Most remasters sound like ass, as they simply seem to add more compression to make everything sound "louder". Steven Wilson's recent remasters have thankfully gone in the other direction. The 2017/2018 remasters of In Absentia and Deadwing are vastly superior to the originals. This is unu...

Re: Best place to buy digital music?

Question: What will you do when Apple and Amazon stop offering downloads and move to a 100% streaming service? That's a good question. I hope it never happens, but who knows. The only thing I use streaming for (Spotify) is to check out new bands or releases, then if I like it I prefer to own it. I w...

Re: New Horizons - Inner Dislocation

I played about half of this disc on You tube ...... the music was fantastic, but the singer is just a bit much for me .......much to heavy on the accent, ans sometimes the powerful music just simply overpowers him..... it feels like a discussion we would all have back in 1998-2002 with the slew of ...

Re: PM: Continuum FB Group

I've been having a lot of fun with the FB group. I can't believe how many old PMers we haven't heard from in years are on there. I don't think it will ever replace the PM forums, just complement them. I resisted FB for a long time, partially because I didn't understand how it works. I eventually ga...

I have to admit that D's FB group is a lot of fun. I'm seeing a lot of old PM names turning up talking about all the music that built this forum and its predecessor. Even Stevie Wonder is there. Truth is forums are essentially dying. My Laser's Edge forum is on life support, This one maybe has a lit...

Its been some time since Adagio released a new album. "Life" was crowdfunded and self-released by the band. We were able to sort out a deal with them and have copies in stock at a very nice price.

Re: MAgma & Chromatica

Larry summed it up pretty well. They sing in an invented language called Kobian which has derivation in old Germanic. They created a mythology about the planet Kobia...well...I think you get the idea. Magma live is a much more intense experience than Magma on record. Matt Johnsen is a heavy convert ...
