Re: Ostura: Stop what you are doing and listen now

Harvester wrote:This a STRONG album of the year candidate. It's Aryeon musically meets Epica orchestrally. Throw is some Beyond the Bridge atmosphere (with the male/female leads) and Symphony X grooves for good measure.

Unfucking real.

Ok, I was already looking forward to this, but damn! :D

Re: Orphaned Land - Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs - full review

I’m pretty blown away from the first listen. Subsequent listens find something more each spin.

The one thing I’m finding a bit distracting is the beeps. I understand this was an artistic decision, and I get it.

Regardless, this won’t hinder my love for this amazing recording.

Re: New BTBAM...

I liked the song a bit more on subsequent listens. To be fair, there are clean vox. I just wish they were used more than the brutal vocals. The rest of the record could go either way I guess.

KIngcrow, Seventh Wonder, and Redemption is enough to make my year right there!

Throw in Orphaned Land and the Ayreon Blu-ray and I’m a happy man.

Oh and Subsignal too.

If BtB&M continues in the style of CE, that will be another big one for me. Not too confident based on the new track though.

Re: Starting off the new year with Excalibur and Soul Doubt.....

I checked Soul Doubt on Bandcamp and had a hard time sitting through it all in one listen. Though I did listen to the whole thing at least twice over the past 2 weeks. Usually broken up in a few sessions. Some good stuff on there, but it’s really pretty light most of the time. Personally I wouldn’t ...

Re: Organized Chaos - Divulgence

This is a wonderful album. I don't want to overhype it, but there are parts of it that call back to old Pain of Salvation in my mind. Lalic's voice is powerful and emotive. The music is sublime. And it's got David Maxim Micic on keys, which is icing on the cake for me. The Man of Much Metal and I a...

Icefish is beyond great. Its difficult to accurately describe but think mixing Awake era DT with a little Vanden Plas and throw in some Amaranthe styled keys and youve got a basic idea.
